Anne Wilson Reaches Major Career Milestone in Three Years: God Is ‘So Faithful’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Christian singer and songwriter Anne Wilson has reached another major milestone in her short career.
In just three years, the “My Jesus” singer has a Grammy-nominated album, an RIAA Certified Platinum single and now a billion streams.
“In a special moment backstage at the Grand Ole Opry, the Opry NextStage Class of 2024 artist was surprised by her team, including Capitol Christian Music Group, Universal Music Group Nashville and the Story House Collective management team,” the Christian Beat reported.
Wilson shared the special moment on her Instagram, giving thanks to God.
“Last night was a dream at the @opry✨ I received a plaque for 1 billion career streams & celebrated with my sweet team from @capitolcmg @umgnashville 🤍 I’m so grateful for this journey The Lord has taken me on. He is so faithful!!!!🫶” she said.
Fans commented their congratulations.
“Oh my goodness!!!! Congratulations, queen!!! So so proud of you! Love your dress. This is literally so amazing!” One user said.
Another person commented, “YESSSSSS GIRL!!!!! so so proud of you! honored to be just one of those one billion streams🤯🤍”
Most recently, Wilson and country star Lainey Wilson (no relation), created a music video for their collaboration “Praying Woman,” which is featured on Anne’s recent album “Rebel.”
“I loved working with her,” Anne said of their work together. “I met Lainey on Instagram in 2020. Then we met [in person] last year, and we wrote the song the same day…We were talking about our moms, and we both remember our moms praying a lot when we were kids, getting on their knees and praying for things, and we got to write a song to honor our moms and talk about what it means to be a woman who prays and faith.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Wilson’s most recent album:
Her album features a handful of other faith-based songs.
“Wilson—who grew up listening to both country and Christian music—says she wants the album to reach country fans who don’t attend church,” Christian Headlines reported.
“With this record, I felt really called to just preach the gospel point blank, share the truth, it is what it is,” Wilson said. “There are a couple of songs on the record that will be on country radio that maybe don’t specifically talk about God…but it’s like a nod at it. My goal is to get people to hear the song and them want to know more.”
Though many call her latest album “country,” she prefers not to have it under one genre.
“A lot of people are labeling it as country, and I would label it as just Anne Wilson,” she told CrosswalkHeadlines. “Some songs will be on Christian playlists, and some will be on country. And then some will maybe just be in the middle…This album was very interesting, because it really does blend the two together in one.”
