E. Ray Moore, an advocate of biblical worldview education, was recently honored with an award named after him.
The E. Ray Moore Christian Education Hero Award was presented to Moore and his wife, Gail Pinckney Moore, at the Public School Exit (PSE) luncheon at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, on March 21.
“Gail and I are grateful to Public School Exit for giving us this award and for creating it in my name, an award that will recognize contributions to Christian education,” Moore said in a press release. “It was indeed a surprise and much appreciated coming from Public School Exit which has accomplished so much of our mutual vision in such a short time.”
“Getting the children out of government schools and into the safe sanctuary of K-12 Christian education and home schooling has been our passion and calling for the last 30 years. We are now seeing the fulfillment of our longtime dream, the revival of Christian education, and it is very satisfying,” he added.
The award was created by PSE and “recognizes Moore as a founding patriarch of the modern American educational liberty movement” and Pinckney Moore “for her service as the founding matriarch.”
“It is only fitting that this award be given to Ray Moore, a giant in the movement for educational liberty and the restoration of Christian education,” PSE Executive Director Alex Newman said. “Ray has been an inspiration to so many families. His impact will reverberate through history.”
According to the press release, “Moore serves as Chairman of the Board of Public School Exit. His background extends through almost 50 years in pastoral ministry as a campus pastor, a congregational minister, an Army Chaplain, or Director of a Christian ministry. A South Carolina native, he is a graduate of The Citadel with a B.A. in political science and was graduated from Grace Theological Seminary cum laude with a M.Div. (Master of Divinity) in 1974 and with a Th.M. (Master of Theology) in 1979. Moore is president of Frontline Ministries Inc. which focuses on prayer, revival and Christian education.”
“There is no one like Ray. He is a shining light for all of us to look up to and is thoroughly deserving of this inaugural award,” Dran Reese, Chief Executive Officer of PSE, said of Moore.
