While lots of books inspire movies, the Boylan Sisters’ latest novel is actually an adaptation of their movie SWITCHED.

“In Switched, readers are introduced to Cassandra, a teen weary of relentless bullying. In a desperate plea, she wishes her glamorous nemesis, Katie Sharp — the reigning queen of social media — could experience life in her shoes,” a synopsis of the book reads. “Her prayer is unexpectedly answered, and the two girls wake up to find they’ve swapped lives.”

The novel is officially available on Amazon.

“This book promises you a wild ride with a powerful conclusion. We never really know what someone is going through until we have walked a day in their shoes,” the Amazon summary describes.

“You guys!!!! We have a switched novel now available on @amazon,” the SWITCHED film’s Instagram announced earlier this week. “Dive deeper into the mind of Cassandra and Katie in this new delightful adaptation of the smash hit movie SWITCHED. Perfect summer reading material!!”

The movie, described as a “faith-based FREAKY FRIDAY,” earned a +3 content score from Movieguide®:

SWITCHED is entertaining and heartfelt, with good acting. It has a strong Christian, moral worldview where characters discuss biblical principles and repent of poor behavior. One character turns from her disbelief in God and utters a prayer at the end. A Kairos Prize winner, SWITCHED also shows that social media can be both used and abused, even by parents. The movie communicates that kindness and treating others the way you want to be treated is the best policy, especially online. There’s almost no objectionable content in SWITCHED.

The Boylan Sisters, who grew up as pastor’s kids near Boston, Massachusetts, are on a mission to create the wholesome, faith-based content they wanted as teens.

“Since 2013 the two have set out to make female driven, faith-based movies that appeal to audiences of all ages,” their website shares.

The sisters also headed up IDENTITY CRISIS, which is available on Angel.

It follows a “shy science wiz in college who struggles with imposter syndrome and confidence issues.” So she creates a clone of herself who can do everything she is afraid of. In the end, she learns “that God already created her the perfect version of herself, and she had all the courage, she just needed to try.” This story is also available as a novel.

Thanks to the Boylans and so many others making faith-based content a priority, we and our children now have numerous options for uplifting films and novels to enjoy.
