COUNTING ON’s Jeremy Vuolo Reveals How His Arrest Led Him to Fully Commit to Christ

By Tess Farrand, Associate Content Editor

COUNTING ON’s Jeremy Vuolo said that his arrest while in college led him fully to commit to Jesus Christ.

“It was really that night when I got arrested, out late at night, 3 a.m. in the morning, I realized I can’t live like this and call myself a Christian,” Vuolo said. “I either need[ed] to go into the world and do what I want to do or I need[ed] to live for Christ, but I can’t call myself a Christian and live like this.”

Vulou was in his early 20s then, playing soccer and partying hard at the time of his arrest in 2008. The arrest report indicates he was taken into custody for harassing a police officer.

Vulou played professional soccer after graduating college and retired in 2014 to focus on ministry through the widely popular sport.

“For guys who stop playing, they’re on a contract or they get injured, the rest of their life they’re aching to play,” he said. “For me, it was like God took that passion for soccer and just relocated it into ministry,” said Vuolo.

Now, Vuolo and wife Jinger Duggar (19 KIDS AND COUNTING) are pressing into God’s call on their life for this season. The couple moved to Los Angeles last year for Vuolo to enroll in seminary.

PEOPLE reported:

“In recent days, God has made it overwhelmingly clear to us that he is leading us out of Laredo. Through much prayer and counsel, the next step for our family is to relocate to Los Angeles to attend Grace Community Church as Jeremy pursues graduate studies at The Master’s Seminary,” they told PEOPLE in an exclusive statement.

In addition to hosting their own podcast, “The Hope We Hold,” the Vuolos are expecting a new baby girl. The couple already share Felicity, age 2.

“Life is beautiful! We are praising God for this precious little gift,” Vulous said on Instagram.

The Vuolos will become a family of four in November.

I remember that day like it was just yesterday, when we welcomed our sweet Felicity into the world. Seeing the overwhelming joy on your face as you held our little girl in your arms for the first time is something that I will never forget. I’ve witnessed your selfless care in the countless hours you’ve spent taking the night shift to calm cries, changing diapers, cleaning up spills, and just being the most incredible dad a girl could ever ask for. I love seeing Felicity light up and giggle as you walk in the door from work, anxiously awaiting her playtime with you. You’re the highlight of her day! What a patient, kind, and loving father our girls have in you, @jeremy_vuolo . I love you so much and thank God for you. Happy Father’s Day, Jer! 😘❤️
