Why Danica McKellar Calls Faith ‘The Most Joyful, Amazing Gift’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Danica McKellar is opening up about her testimony and the gift of faith.
“[Candace Cameron Bure] invited me to church,” the actress explained, adding that she had always been a bit skeptical about religion. The friends attended a Palm Sunday service, where McKellar saw a Passion play.
“And that’s when it happened,” she said. “The Holy Spirit bowled me over. I was so amazed and so emotional.”
McKellar continued, “All of the times that I felt connected to something bigger than me, all of the times that I’ve wanted to do the right thing just because it was the right thing…what makes that? Where does it all come from? All my questions were answered with no words.
The WONDER YEARS actress said it was like everything “came into focus” and called her faith “the most joyful, amazing gift that I ever could have hoped for.”
Now, McKellar is dedicated to sharing her faith with others who might be unsure of religion.
“I thought religion was this restrictive thing. It’s actually the most freeing thing in the world,” she shared. “It’s just been a beautiful, beautiful gift, and it feels so good, and I want everyone to have that feeling.”
In a conversation with CBN, the actress said she feels “so blessed” to have her faith.
“People have said, ‘Oh, you are so bold,’” McKellar said. “It doesn’t feel bold. It doesn’t feel like it requires courage or anything…When you experience something that is so beautiful and so wonderful and so life-changing, you want everyone to feel that.”
Movieguide® previously reported on McKellar’s faith journey:
McKellar frequently speaks about her faith journey and how it has changed her life.
“I would not say I’ve embraced religion so much as [created a] relationship,” she told Fox News. “I’ve found my faith, and it’s been an amazing life changer. I have this sense that everything’s going to be fine in a way that I never really had before.”
She continued, “I am so grateful to Candace Cameron Bure for bringing me into this era of my life. She really had a lot to do with it. Also my dad. He’s been a believer for a long time. It’s just been a beautiful, beautiful gift, and it feels so good, and I want everyone to have that feeling.”
McKellar also constantly credits Bure for bringing her to Christ.
“Candace, I don’t want to brush over the huge, huge impact that you’ve had on my life this year,” the actress said while appearing on “The Candace Cameron Bure” podcast. “You gave me this Bible that I read all the time, and I love it so much, and I go to church now, and I talk to Jesus all the time, every day. It’s unbelievable. And you were like my guide. You were just an angel in my life, and you still are. And I just want to thank you for that publicly.”
