Saints LB Demario Davis Trusts God’s Plan Even When It Seems Impossible
By Movieguide® Contributor
New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis is opening up about following God’s plan, even when it doesn’t make sense.
“You know God is funny because He always asks you to do the opposite of something,” Davis told Sports Spectrum’s Matt Forte. “I think about last year, you know, I got hurt for a game, and they told me, like, ‘Yeah, you’re going to be down for 21 days minimum.’ And it was a Sunday game; we gotta play on Thursday.”
He continued, “God just kind of told me in a whisper like, ‘I ain’t spoke yet.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay.’ Now you’re like, ‘God, they said 21 days, You thinking I’m about to go out here and play on Thursday?’ [God said] ‘If I say you can do it, you can go.’ And I played on Thursday.”

“Now, it was a lot of faith in that because I was scared. But it was like, if God said it, I gotta go,” the linebacker added. “And so God will put you in a situation where you actually have to walk through it. My daughter had her seizures. Like I had to pray all the way to the hospital. My wife was in the ambulance, and she flatlined twice. But I’m praying and calling Jesus’ blessing while we’re in the car.”

Thankfully, his daughter made a full recovery despite concerns that the seizure could have caused developmental issues.
“She was talking clearer than before, and it was 3 o’clock. We heard her talk and let her talk for about 20 minutes and said, ‘Hey baby, it’s nighttime, let’s go back to sleep.’ I just prayed, started saying, ‘Praise God. Praise God.’ The next morning when she got up, my daughter was so sharp. She was able to talk to me and her mom. I mean, clear conversation. She’s sharp for a four-year-old. No stuttering, all her words clear,” Davis shared last year.

On Sunday, Davis led the Saints with 10 tackles, two of which were solo.
“Davis registered his second double-digit tackle total of the campaign to lead New Orleans in the win,” RotoWire reported. “The veteran linebacker continues to be an anchor of the Saints on defense, playing every one of the team’s defensive snaps over five of the past six weeks. Davis appears to be on his way to an eighth straight 100-tackle campaign with 66 stops through nine contests this season.”
