Philadelphia Eagles rookie defensive back Cooper DeJean had a lot to celebrate on Feb. 9.
Not only did he become a Super Bowl champ, but he also turned 22, becoming the first player in NFL history to intercept a pass or score a touchdown on his birthday, according to Fox News.
“PHILLYYY, we are World Champions! God is amazing. So grateful to be a part of this city and this team!” he wrote on Instagram a few days after the Eagles 40–22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
The cornerback referenced John 13:7: “Jesus replied, ‘You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.'”

DeJean’s parents were cheering him on from the stands during the big game. In an interview on the “Up and Adams Show,” the athlete opened up about how he felt watching his parents’ reaction to his pick six.
“I watched the video, after I scored the touchdown, of my parents up in the stands, and I’d never seen my dad get that excited before about a play I made,” DeJean said. “So that was that was definitely pretty emotional, watching that back. But I’m just, I’m just glad they get to experience it with me. They’ve been there every step of the way, from, you know, since I was a little kid, and then to draft.”
He was “disappointed” at the draft last year because he was not picked after the first day. However, his time came, and God had a plan for him.
“And then, you know, God has a plan, and everything worked out. Now I’m a Philadelphia Eagle and a Super Bowl champ, so it all worked out,” he added.
