GAF CEO Bill Abbott Shares Updates, Looks Ahead to Christmas Season
By Movieguide® Contributor
In a recent email, Great American Family CEO Bill Abbott shared updates about the network and exciting plans for the future.
“I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend!” Abbott began. “Now that Summer is unofficially over, we turn our thoughts to cooler weather, the beauty of Fall and the lead up to the celebration of the Christmas season!”
“As I have mentioned in these notes, our content gets better and better throughout the remainder of the year, and we could not be more excited for the films ahead,” he continued. “We believe they will entertain you, give you a lot of enjoyment over the coming months, and not assault your senses—imagine that!”
Abbott continued by announcing that on Saturday, September 16, a new movie called ONE PERFECT MATCH will be released. The movie stars Merritt Patterson, who, according to Abbott, is “a world-class talent, and even a better person, and she lights up the screen in this role as a matchmaker.”
Abbott also addressed some viewer questions.
First, he mentioned some concerns that have been raised about an inappropriate commercial that played on the network.
“Unfortunately, in this case, we do not control the advertising on the providers carrying the advertisements such as Philo-TV, FRNDLY-TV and FUBO-TV. With all of our other distribution partners, we control everything but two minutes per hour, but I know even there we have had a few issues, an example being ads that promote the supernatural. We do our best to make noise to distributors to prevent this, so your feedback is helpful,” he explained.
Abbott also shared that the strikes will not impact their Christmas lineup.
“Many of you have asked how [the strikes] will impact our Christmas line-up, and the good news is that it will not! We filmed our movies with Candace, Trevor Donovan, Merritt Patterson, Jill Wagner, Jen Lilley and many more early in the year in anticipation of a potential strike, so our line-up is ready to go, and better than ever!”
Abbott concluded, sharing his gratitude for how the network’s newest movie was received.
“Many of you have come to our website to review Saturday night’s movie, LEARNING TO LOVE, and we are thrilled with the reaction!” he wrote. “We have also taken note, and heartened, by the positive feedback of how faith was an important part of the movie. It is a core principle of our organization to reinforce faith, family & country, so we are energized that you noticed it and enjoyed it!”
