Families can now enjoy THE GARFIELD MOVIE from home as the feature film is now available to rent or buy digitally.

Those who want to purchase the movie can do so through Prime Video, Apple TV and Google Play, among other options. Along with the movie, the digital version also includes bonus features, including a gag reel, a deleted scene and other extras.

THE GARFIELD MOVIE hit theaters on May 24 and has had a strong showing, grossing over $218 million worldwide against a $60 million budget. The movie found a strong connection with family audiences thanks to its uplifting, fun storyline. A portion of Movieguide®’s review reads:

The best part of THE GARFIELD MOVIE is the father and son relationship. At the end, it is deeply emotive and brings tears. It also has some very funny, exciting moments. THE GARFIELD MOVIE is never boring. It also has many heartwarming emotional moments and a very strong moral worldview. However, some of the scary moments and jeopardy in THE GARFIELD MOVIE are a little too intense.

The movie is perfect for both old and new fans of the comic, as it remains extremely faithful to its source material while leaving room for new fans to engage with the characters.

“After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father — scruffy street cat Vic — Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist,” a synopsis of the movie reads.

THE GARFIELD MOVIE stars Chris Pratt as Garfield and Samuel L. Jackson as Vic, along with Hannah Waddingham, Nicholas Hoult, Ving Rhames, Cecily James and Henry Guillén.

While the movie is now available to stream at home, it will also be available to watch in theaters through August. THE GARFIELD MOVIE is also expected to come to Netflix by the end of the year, per the streamer’s deal with Sony Pictures.

Movieguide® previously reported:

Family-friendly movies THE GARFIELD MOVIE and IF are dominating at the box office.

The Hollywood Reporter wrote that THE GARFIELD MOVIE took in an estimated $14 million “for a domestic tally of $51.6 million,” adding that it “crossed the $100 million mark overseas for a global tally of $152.2 million.”

THE GARFIELD MOVIE is a hit with audiences and critics. Screen Rant called it “a near-perfect adaptation of the original comic strips.”

“The art style was deeply reminiscent of Davis’ work, which added a delightful touch of nostalgia to the project. However, what stood out the most was the unique brand of comedy, which was uniquely comparable to how the original creator of Garfield structured his comics in the 1980s and 1990s,” they continued. “The structure of the 2024 film even feels like a cartoon out of the 1980s, with plenty of outrageous feats and slap-stick style misadventures to make audiences nostalgic.”
