Hilary Swank Expecting Twins: ‘It’s a Blessing, It’s a Total Miracle’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Hilary Swank is expecting twins!

The actress recently announced that she and husband Philip Schneider, who have been together since 2016, are expecting their first children together.

“This is something that I’ve been wanting for a long time and my next thing is I’m gonna be a mom,” Swank said. “And not just of one, but of two. I can’t believe it.”

The actress shared that twins run in both her and her husband’s families, and that she is “so excited” to become a mom.

“It’s such a blessing. It’s a total miracle. It’s unbelievable,” Swank gushed.

Though Swank will be a first-time mother, she has been a compassionate caregiver before.

Movieguide® previously reported on Swank’s family life, including her father’s health:

Academy Award-winning actress Hilary Swank recently took a three-year hiatus from the Hollywood spotlight to care for her ailing father.

“It was supposed to be a year, because it takes a year to see if an organ transplant takes,” Swank toldHealth.com in a new interview. “A lung transplant is the most difficult of all, as it’s an incredibly delicate organ. The plan was to take off a year.”

However, one year turned into three years as it became clear to Swank that her father needed her to be a loving daughter in a time of poor physical health.

“I became my dad’s health advocate,” Swank said.  “One year quickly turned into two, and then three. And, thank God, prayers were answered. He is healthy and doing really well five-plus years later.”

Along with her thankfulness to God for answering the prayers, Swank shared how she dealt with the difficulties caring for her father.

“It takes a lot of energy, love, and edifying yourself on the matter at hand. The ups and downs are so challenging and can be overwhelming,” Swank explained. “Make sure that you’re taking time for yourself and that you vocalize what your needs are to the people who are around you so they can help support you.”

Swank resumed her career in entertainment once her father was stable.
