How Commanders QB Stays Calm: ‘God’s Plan With Everything’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels looked as calm as could be on the sidelines as his team played the No. 1 ranked team, the Detriot Lions, over the weekend.

The Commanders took the win, 45-31, but through the tough situations his team faced during the game, he stayed calm. How?

It all started when Daniels transferred from Arizona to LSU.

“In Arizona, I wasn’t that far from home, and my family could come see me,” Daniels told LSU Sports. “So, when I decided to come out here, I’m like, ‘Alright. I’m out here on my own, really.’ It forced me to figure out me, who I am as a person, who I am as a human being.”

His relationship with player relations manager, Sherman Wilson, catapulted his faith.

“Being around him, I kind of got back into my faith more, always giving glory to God,” Daniels said. “He died on the cross for us; anything is possible with Him. Coming back out here, trying to figure out my life, I wanted to stop trying to put so much pressure on me and just give everything to God, letting Him take care of it.”

A year ago, the Washington Commanders only had four wins the entire season. This year? Daniels led his team to an NFC Championship, and he never fails to give God praise — win or loss.

“Man, it just starts with our faith. Our faith in God as a team. Man, we believe,” the athlete told Fox Sports. “We believe in each other. We believe in the man upstairs. You know that we’re going to go out there, we’re going to fight. He prepared us the right way. We prepared the right way. We put in the work to get to this point. Now, you know, we got a couple more games left. We got one game left. See who we’re playing tomorrow. But you know, I just love this team.”

When asked how he continues to stay calm in tough moments, Daniels gave the credit to God.

“Just how I was raised. That’s how I was born. you know, joyful, kid, just is very passionate about the game of football. Loves the game of football, and you know, I put all my trust in God,” he declared.
