‘I’m So Glad You’re Mine’: Amy Grant Welcomes Granddaughter

By Movieguide® Contributor

Stop for a minute
Baby I’m so glad you’re mine
And ever since the day you put my heart in motion
Baby I realize that there’s just no getting over you

While those words were originally written for Amy Grant’s daughter, they apply to the newest member of her family, as well – granddaughter Penelope Willow Long. Penelope was born to Grant’s daughter Millie and her husband Ben.

“What a way to kick off 2022!” Grant, who is going to be called Ama by her new grandchild, told People. “We are over the moon at her safe delivery. Mom and baby are doing great!”

Millie and Ben married in 2019 after dating for four years. “It is hard to believe that same 6-week-old girl who inspired the lyrics to ‘Baby Baby’ is now a beautiful married woman,” Grant said of her daughter. “Her life has given us a lot of reasons to dance and celebrate through the years!”

Grant recently released a 30th anniversary edition of her hit album “Heart in Motion.”

Movieguide® previously reported:

“We dug through the archives and found some previously unreleased tracks and some rare remixes. We also found a few demos and ‘works in progress’. I even went back into the studio with @keiththomasproducer to redo one song entirely. Excited to share them all with you!” Grant posted to Instagram.

USA Today reports that the 30th anniversary edition will be feted with a July 9 double-CD reissue, featuring the original album remastered and a second disc of unreleased songs and remixes of “Heart in Motion” hit singles. On July 30, the album will arrive in remastered vinyl form.

“All of them are a beautiful, sweet memory for me,” Grant says of the songs. “There is such an inclusiveness and a hopefulness. I love the feeling of ‘we’ and ‘us’ that I hear in those songs. You listen to (the first line of) ‘That’s What Love is For’ – ‘Sometimes we make it harder than it is’ (laughs). There’s such an honesty and pureness. Everything feels uncontrived to me. I really do believe that the best thing about music is the ability to lead us and to steer us.”

Grant appeared in the documentary THE JESUS MUSIC, which premiered in October 2021.

According to the Movieguide® review:

THE JESUS MUSIC is a documentary taking a historical look at Contemporary Christian Music. It includes interviews from many major figures in Christian music. The movie starts with the beginnings of Jesus Music in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Mega stars Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith discuss their encounter with the first Jesus Music album, produced by artists from Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, California. In 1972, Jesus Music got a huge endorsement from the Reverend Billy Graham, who spoke to 200,000 people at a Jesus Music festival in Dallas, Texas. The rest of the documentary interviews other major stars from the 1980s, 1990s and the last 20 years.

THE JESUS MUSIC is an impressive overview of a pop culture phenomenon. It documents and captures the spirit of its subject. It also shows why Christian music continues to be popular, despite some of the criticism it’s received from inside and outside the Church. THE JESUS MUSIC is a stirring document of an important part of today’s Christian life. In the end, as one song lyric says, “It’s all about Jesus.”
