Jim Caviezel Describes One Simple Way to Deepen Your Relationship With Jesus
By Movieguide® Contributor
Jim Caviezel reminded his fans of an extremely important way that they can improve their relationship with the Lord and make it more personal and meaningful.
“If I could tell you one thing, our Lord loves you. But if you ever have it within you, just tell Him you love Him, you wanna talk about a personal relationship with Jesus. Tell Him you love Him” Caviezel told TBN. “If you speak from your head and tell your husband or your wife, you know, I love you, only from my head. But what does it mean when you speak from your heart, you say, ‘I love you,’ to your husband or your wife or your child, it means so much more. Do the same with our Lord. Our heavenly Father deserves it.”
A lifelong Christian, Caviezel has great insight into what it means to have a strong relationship with Jesus. This has manifested itself in his career, which he has committed to the Lord. Even while playing Jesus in THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, Caviezel felt convicted that he wasn’t doing enough.

“I was in a dream, and I felt God’s love, so powerful, but I wasn’t close enough,” he said. “And I said, ‘You’re not close enough to me’… and He said, ‘If I do, you may not like me’… when we were on the cross together, He was completely playing the scene. That was my prayer. I don’t want them to see Jim Caviezel. I want them to see Jesus.”
Caviezel’s reliance on the Lord was certainly an important part of that movie, especially as he suffered numerous injuries. However, rather than lamenting this pain and suffering, Caviezel came to realize that it better helped him portray everything that Jesus faced during the crucifixion.

Cavizel is gearing up to play Jesus again in the PASSION OF THE CHRIST sequel, THE RESURRECTION OF THE CHRIST, which Mel Gibson said will begin filming soon.
“I don’t have a start date, I just have to begin pre-production and see what happens, and it’s just gonna roll in its own time. It’s taking its own time,” he said during an appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast in January 2025. “I thought it was late. I thought I was taking too long, but it’s probably just right. It’s when it’s supposed to be.”
