Former supermodel and entrepreneur Kathy Ireland says youth is all about perspective.
She told Fox News Digital that youth is a “state of mind.” And when she’s working out at sea as a commercial fisherwoman, she feels like a “12 year old.”
“So as far as youthfulness, it’s a state of mind and I much prefer maturity to being younger, but I look at maturity in maybe a way that others don’t,” she continued. “I see it as such a plus. I’m excited to get older because I see, like, ‘Wait a minute, this year. I know more than I knew last year and I’ve accomplished some more things. I learned some lessons the hard way. That’s OK. I’m course correcting here and I’m doing this there.’”
“Getting older, it’s a journey,” Ireland added. “It also keeps us humble and that’s OK. I mean I’m likely not going to be able to have the physicality that I have that I’m blessed with today.”
She knows that someday she may need to take things slow, so she takes advantage of every day.
“And you know, I just pray that I have the grace to accept each stage of life where I am and to enjoy it and to live every stage to the fullest,” she said.
Last year she said, “It’s a journey and actually I’m enjoying getting older. I wouldn’t go back in time for anything. I want to grow with every year.”
“I don’t want to stagnate and as long as I grow, I’m looking forward to old age,” she added. “…Now at 60, I do all the things I love to do, and I don’t take that for granted. I’m so grateful to be healthy.”
She previously said that everyone worries too much about aging.
“After 40, I feel, we begin to meld our inner being with our faces. Someone I love, said, ‘After 40, you have the face you deserve.’ I truly don’t worry about the way I look,” Ireland said.
“Beautiful people come in all ages, shapes, sizes and colors…” she continued. “I try to take care of myself and stay healthy. Skincare is very important…Good nutrition and exercise help you look and feel great.”
It helps that her 16-hour fishing days exercise her body and brain.
“It’s so fun,” Ireland said. “I’m just thinking about survival and thinking, ‘Maybe I shouldn’t have gone out this day.’ But it’s fun and I enjoy it. I love the sea life.”
As a successful entrepreneur and former model with a can-do attitude, Ireland lives out her motto, “women do not have an expiration date. There’s no limit.”
