Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ grandfather, Randy Martin, passed away over the weekend.
Mahomes’ mother, Randi, shared a post on her Instagram Friday that announced the news.
“Hard to find the words of holding my fathers hand as he goes to Heaven. I know he’s in a better place. I love you daddy,” she wrote.
She concluded the post with Matthew 25:23 “Well done, good and faithful servant!”
Many of Randi’s followers offered condolences for her loss.
“My condolences to you and your family! I pray the Lord gives you all strength and peace during this time,” one follower wrote.
Another said, “I’m so very sorry for your loss. I did that with my mom and my dad 31 days apart. It’s so painful but God will carry you through this.”
On January 24, according to PEOPLE, Randi revealed on her Instagram Stories that her father entered hospice. She posted a photo with her dad that included Colossians 3:20: “Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.”
“My dad is in hospice and I’m lost for words 🙏🙏🙏,” she added.
“Prayer warriors please pray for my daddy. He is in the hospital and is not well…his name is Randy,” she posted on X.
Randi told PEOPLE that her father was hanging on to watch his grandson play for his third straight Super Bowl.
