Some familiar faces are returning to THE VOICE — Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Adam Levine are all confirmed as judges for Season 29!

“I’m so excited to be back coaching on THE VOICE!” Clarkson wrote in a recent Instagram post.

She will be joined by former VOICE coaches Levine and Legend, both of whom are also coming back to the singing reality competition show. The trio has not been on THE VOICE together since Season 16. This also marks the first time ever that THE VOICE has only had three coaches.

In a video promoting their return, Levine told viewers, “If you think you know THE VOICE, think again,” while Legend added that the trio plan to “turn the competition upside down.”

“But this time,” Clarkson said. “We’ve got some tricks up our sleeves. Y’all get ready!”

The first change? The title of the show. Season 29 will be referred to as THE VOICE: BATTLE OF CHAMPIONS.

NBC has promised viewers a season “infused with fast-paced, competitive elements,” inspired by their athletic offerings on NBC Sports.

Deadline reported that there will be a “Triple Turn Competition,” with the coaches competing against each other to score the contestant with the most three-chair turns. The coach with the most three-chair turns automatically earns a “Super Steal” for the battles round.

Another revamped component? The show’s Semi-Final and Finale Week.

“For the first time in show history, a new voting block comprised of super fans and past VOICE artists will have the opportunity to get in on the fun firsthand, experiencing the competition as part of the in-studio audience voting for their favorites in real time during the semi-finals and finale,” Variety explained

THE VOICE fans still have a little while to wait before they see Clarkson, Legend and Levine back on the show, though. Season 28 is expected to start airing this September, but no official date has been announced yet. Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire, Niall Horan and Michael Bublé are all set to return as coaches.

“There’s no losing when you get to be on this show,” Bublé, last season’s winner, told Entertainment Tonight. “I got to work with the most beautiful artists, and I sat beside my favorite musicians on the planet…there was not a day that I didn’t feel like I was winning.”

Fans can’t wait for these next seasons of THE VOICE, whether it’s to watch lots of new, talented singers or to see some of their favorite past coaches return!
