Kirk Cameron just started filming a new Christmas movie in Los Angeles. Here are all the details.
“I’m on set in Los Angeles, filming a new Christmas movie that echoes the sentiments of IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE and FIELD OF DREAMS. I play the role of a cutthroat Hollywood agent who is exasperated with temperamental actors!” Cameron said on Instagram.
“The coolest part about being a part of this production is that it is being made by the film department and students of The Master’s University. RIP Johnny Mac [John MacArthur] @gracetoyou I hope we make you proud,” he added.
“Welcome to the Christmas genre 🎄🥰,” his sister Candace Cameron Bure commented.

Cameron isn’t totally new to Christmas movies, but the last one he starred in was 2014’s SAVING CHRISTMAS.
“Kirk is enjoying the annual Christmas party extravaganza thrown by his sister until he realizes that his brother-in-law, Christian, has a bad case of the bah-humbugs. Kirk’s fresh look at Christmas provides Christian the chance to see that Christ is where He has always been: at the center of our Christmas celebrations and traditions. Can Kirk save his in-laws’ opinions on Christmas?” a synopsis of the movie reads, per IMDB.
“I made SAVING CHRISTMAS because I love Christmas, I love everything about Christmas. The cookies, the stories, the songs,” the actor told CBN News. “Some people are saying Christmas is so infected with paganism that we shouldn’t have Christmas trees, holly, mistletoe or any of that stuff.”
“I decided this is the thing that will steal our joy at Christmas,” he continued. “I wanted to make a movie that inspires maximum joy and celebration this Christmas.”
In addition to spreading Christmas joy, Cameron wanted the movie to celebrate the Messiah’s birth.
“This is a public declaration that the King of Heaven on Earth has landed and everything’s going to change now, and it did. When we celebrate Christmas, it shouldn’t be something private and tame and put our politically correct seatbelts on,” he told the outlet.
Part of Moveiguide®’s review reads:
SAVING CHRISTMAS is a documentary about the Christmas holiday. Actor Kirk Cameron’s sister, Bridgette, is throwing a Christmas party. Bridgette has gone all out with a huge Christmas tree, lots of ornaments, lots of presents, and lots of Christmas decorations. Even more exciting, Bridgette got someone to play Santa for the children to sit and take photos with, but really it’s just a relative. However, her husband, Christian, is not as excited as she is about the party. SAVING CHRISTMAS starts out with Kirk Cameron talking and questioning modern day Christmas traditions. Then the story starts, but most of the movie is narration and an argument between two people. This doesn’t make an interesting movie as a movie, but it does provide good lessons. Also, the cinematography is off, usually not in focus or shaky. The movie also lacks a clear storyline, but rather is just didactic. SAVING CHRISTMAS has a Christian, biblical worldview stressing the importance of Jesus Christ. SAVING CHRISTMAS highlights traditions that honor Jesus and stresses having a positive attitude about this special, delightful holiday or Holy Day.
No other details about Cameron’s newest Christmas movie are available, so his fans will have to stay tuned for more information.
