Liberty Football HC Relies on Faith for Team’s Undefeated Season

Liberty University’s head football coach, Jamey Chadwell, has led his team to an undefeated season by relying on his faith in God.
Sports Spectrum reported, “The Flames improved to 12-0 with a 42-28 win at UTEP on Saturday and will host New Mexico State in the Conference USA championship game” tonight.
This is Chadwell’s first season as Liberty’s head football coach.
In a press conference that announced his hiring, Chadwell said, “I’m not only a believer, I’m a follower of Jesus Christ. When you get an opportunity to impact people at the most prestigious institution of higher learning from a Christian background, Liberty University, you don’t pass that up.”
In 2021, Chadwell joined Sports Spectrum’s podcast, where he revealed when his relationship with the Lord changed for the better.
“Football was my god, to be honest with you,” he said before opening up about an injury that changed his perspective. “Football was my god. I was trying to stand on that football, and that football was taken away. And I learned at that time that I needed to make sure I dedicated my life to serving Him and His purpose.”
Chadwell knows that serving as a football coach is part of God’s purpose for him.
“I believe wholeheartedly this is where God has put me to try to spread His message,” he said on the podcast. “He’s made me a football coach for a purpose, and I have an opportunity to use the sport of football…It gives an opportunity, a platform to use that faith through the game of football.”
Chadwell continues to share faith, especially on his social media accounts. On Instagram, he describes himself as a “Believer, husband to an amazing wife, father of 3, and Liberty University Football HC.”
He also includes Ephesians 3:21 in his bio which reads, “…to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
Liberty will face New Mexico State for the USA conference championship on Friday at 7 p.m. ET.
