These Hollywood A-Listers Came From ‘Humble Beginnings’

Actor Mark Wahlberg admires his co-star and long-time friend Halle Berry as they both came from “humble beginnings.”
“We’re super close. We both [have] really humble beginnings, worked very hard to get to where we are, we have a lot in common, and we enjoy each other’s company,” he told Fox News.
The youngest of nine children, Wahlberg grew up in a working-class family from Boston and was the son delivery driver father and a nurse’s aide mother.
Berry, meanwhile, was born in Cleaveland, Ohio, and was raised by her mother after her father abandoned them.
“The family faced financial difficulties, and Berry had to work multiple jobs as a teenager to support herself and her mother,” Famous Life Biography wrote. She went on to compete in beauty pageants and modeling contests before finding her way to acting.
Thanks to their hard work, though, both actors have found themselves on top in Hollywood. Wahlberg received a BAFTA Award and several other accolades, including Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations. Berry won an Oscar and received numerous other nominations throughout her career.
“I would say I think the thing people would appreciate most is that she’s very much who she appears to be,” Wahlberg said of Berry. “She can do anything, she’s done anything as a force of nature and talent, an actor, director, producer. But the person that you see, whether on social media or in interviews, she’s sweet, she’s funny, she’s feisty, but she is who she appears to be and very approachable, which I wouldn’t expect, because she’s stunning but sweet as they come. It’s amazing.”
The two actors share the screen in the upcoming Netflix film THE UNION. A synopsis reads, “THE UNION follows the story of Mike (Mark Wahlberg), a construction worker in New Jersey who is thrust back into the world of espionage when his long-lost high school sweetheart, Roxanne (Halle Berry), reappears. She recruits him for a dangerous intelligence mission in Europe, rekindling their romance amidst high-speed car chases and spy intrigue.”
Berry recently posted the trailer. “Who knew running into your high school sweetheart could lead to a world of espionage? 😉 THE UNION, premiering only on @netflix August 16,” she wrote.
Movieguide® previously reported on Wahlberg:
Mark Wahlberg credits his success to his faith in God.
The actor told Fox News Digital about how faith and hard work has brought him to where he is today while at the opening of his new restaurant, Flecha.
“My faith, my faith and my family and just finding good balance. But I have to attribute all my success to my faith,” Wahlberg said.
The new restaurant is located in Huntington Beach, California. Wahlberg shared how he wants his customers to feel like family.
“I want to have them to have the most amazing experience they’ve ever had in a restaurant. I want them to feel like they’re at home, that they are doted on and spoiled,” he told Fox. “I’ve sent a lot of people in unannounced to really kind of see what the experience is like. I have an amazing staff, amazing team. And we are a family, we want to share our family experience, and that really translates. So come in, have an amazing experience with the food, the hospitality, drinks, just having fun. It’s an experience that you want to have over and over again.”
