Oklahoma softball player Sam Landry reached her 500th strikeout on Sunday when the Sooners played Wichita State, a feat only possible with God’s help.
“Welcome to the 5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣K club, @samlandryy,” Oklahoma softball celebrated on Instagram.
In a post from 2024, Landry credited her position at Oklahoma to God. “All part of His plan,” she wrote.
Before her transfer to Oklahoma, the athlete played for Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns softball.

She often uses her play platform to share about her faith in Jesus.
In one post, she referenced 1 Corinthians 9:24: “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.”
Landry has also partnered with Soles 2 Hope, a “nonprofit organization providing encouragement, support, & hope to children fighting critical health battles through advocacy & collaboration with the power of sports,” as well as the Tyler Robinson Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports families with pediatric cancer.
“March 4. Tyler Robinson Day. A day to celebrate and encourage the young ones fighting the fight of their life,” Landry wrote on Instagram last year.
“I would love to shine a spotlight on Emmy. Emmy is a three-year-old little girl battling stage 4 neuroblastoma. She recently finished her last bone marrow transplant and is kicking cancer’s butt with God by her side,” she added.
“I am so honored and humbled to announce my partnership with @soles2hope and @trfdotorgto bring awareness to pediatric cancer,” the pitcher concluded. “The Tyler Robinson Foundation is partnered with nearly 100 hospitals to help out the families of our young fighters. If you are interested in being a part of such a great cause, feel free to contact me or the TRF!”
