Phil Robertson: ‘I’m A New Creation In Christ’
By Movieguide® Contributor
DUCK DYNASTY’s Phil Robertson is reflecting on the impact God has had on his life and encouraging others who are struggling.
“Whatever shame you have gnawing at you, whatever chip you have on your shoulder, whatever burden you’re hauling around, I want you to know this: There is hope,” he wrote in a recent Instagram post. “The enemy wants you to feel like there’s no way out. He wants you to buckle under the weight of your old sins.”
Robertson admitted it was “hard to watch my spiral of sin and shame in our movie, THE BLIND.”
“I could’ve easily ended up dead in a ditch, leaving Miss Kay and the boys to deal with the mess I left behind. But that freedom I was looking for? It was only in Jesus that I was truly set free,” he explained. “Now, I’m a new creation in Christ. The old Phil has left the building.”
Robertson concluded, “A movie about hope is a powerful thing. When you see it, you’ll know you’re not the sum of the worst things you’ve ever done. Jesus took care of that, and I’m thankful every day.”
THE BLIND has already become Fathom Events’ most successful release in the company’s history, and its theatrical run has already been extended twice.
“From the beginning, we knew how special this film was, and we were eager to support it in the best way possible,” said Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Events. “Giving the film a longer theatrical run was a great decision for Fathom because of how important it was to bring this message to the fans – it resonated with so many people, which is why The Blind has had such staying power.”
Robertson celebrated THE BLIND’s success in another Instagram post, writing, “THE BLIND is reaching a mighty throng of individuals, and Hollywood is taking notice that this is a message you want to hear: You’re never too far gone. God can reach you wherever you are and no matter how dark things have gotten. And however hopeless you feel, there is always hope in Jesus.”

THE BLIND is the first project from the Robertson family’s production company, Tread Lively Productions.
“Phil is so passionate about the gospel and getting it out,” son Willie Robertson said of the decision to put his parents’ lives on the big screen. “He said, ‘Hey, if this helps people, then we can do it.’ They’ve been so transparent anyway about their lives and [there was] nothing in the movie that I hadn’t heard them talk about.”
Willie’s wife Korie added, “I think when you see the film, you realize what a hero Kay is in the story. I mean, she really held this man’s family together. She was a single mom of three boys for a little while when Phil kicked her out of the house. And when the moment came that Phil did turn his life around, she truly forgave him. And so just understanding that grace and forgiveness that she offered that kept their family together and that made everything possible today has impacted our family.”
