Reba McEntire might be one of country music’s biggest stars, but she says it’s the little things that make her house feel like a home.

“Personal memorabilia, things that have stories…something comfortable,” she said of her three homes — one in Los Angeles and two in Nashville — in an interview with PEOPLE. “Nobody has to take their shoes off when they come in the house, and it’s nothing fancy. It’s just livable. Breathable, and a place to come in and have fun.”

McEntire also shared a favorite feature of one of her Nashville homes.

“[At] one of our properties, we have two creeks running through, and I love to walk in the creek, around the creek, beside the creek because it’s moving water,” she said. “It just represents life, new life, old life, life that’s running, life that’s moving, traveling, going somewhere. So it’s all the aspects of my life is in this creek.”

While McEntire enjoys the slow life her properties in Tennessee afford her, the singer has been working in high-gear lately. Her new sitcom HAPPY’S PLACE is about to start filming Season 2, which she called “so gratifying.”

“We’re so thankful and grateful,” she told Us Weekly. “It’s an eclectic group that is so much fun getting everybody together. We learn from each other and we feed off each other. They’re great actors and we just had the best time. We can’t wait to go back and start working on season 2.”

McEntire is also getting ready to host the 60th annual Academy of Country Music Awards ceremony. She recently told Dallas News her hosting secrets — this year’s ceremony marks the 17th time McEntire has hosted the ACMs.

“[My secret is to] have fun,” she said. “The goal is to celebrate everyone’s hard work, highlight incredible performances, see old friends and new. My job is to help create that celebration.”

In an official statement about the awards show, McEntire said she is “tickled to pieces” to host again, adding, “What an honor to have been part of the past, present and now the future of the Academy of Country Music with Amazon Prime Video. I can’t wait to get to Texas and see everybody!”

“We are thrilled for the homecoming of Reba to the ACM Awards stage for the 17th time! There is simply no one better to continue to elevate this show in our new global streaming era with Amazon Prime Video,” ACM CEO Damon Whiteside added. “No one has a deeper and richer history with the Academy than Reba, from her many years hosting the ACM Awards, and from her 16 ACM Awards wins including Entertainer of the Year and two ACM anniversary Milestone Awards. With exciting new music coming, extensive television presence and a worldwide fanbase, Reba’s back and better than ever!”

From returning to television with another successful sitcom to her 17th stint hosting the ACMs, McEntire is still going full-steam ahead!
