When it came time to name their third daughter, Sadie Robertson Huff and husband Christian were divided — until a sign from God changed everything.
“I threw it out there to my husband amongst five other great names, but I was really hoping he would love Kit,” Sadie told PEOPLE. “And as soon as I said Kit, he was like, ‘No.’ He did not like it.”
Sadie asked Christian to pray on it, explaining to him that “Kit” means “pure, or to bear Christ.” Shortly after, the family went on a trip to England, where Sadie told herself that if they saw the name Kit on a book somewhere, the name was meant to be.
“It was a really beautiful place in the countryside of England and there was a bookshelf,” she shared. “[And] there was a book that said Kit. And on the book it had honeybees all over it, which is our thing with honey. And Christian was like, ‘Oh, that’s just a coincidence.’”

Later, the hotel’s staff gifted the family some books, all of which had Kit printed somewhere on them.
“We’re like, “That’s so crazy. That’s so cool, that’s what we prayed for,’” Sadie shared. The staff also gave the couple some baby toys that had the brand name Kit on them, telling the family that the hotel owner was named Kit.
Sadie added, “And after that, my husband could not deny that this child was supposed to be named Kit.”
Kit Carroway Huff was born on Aug. 1. Sadie shared on Instagram, “God has hand crafted every detail of her story, and we are just in awe of His goodness! We can’t wait to watch all that He has for her life unfold. Soaking it all in.”
In a recent Instagram post, Sadie reflected on the changes and transitions that come from being a mother.
“I think we have to consider that just like you can’t prepare someone for the struggle until they get there, you can’t prepare yourself for the provision God will bring either! God gives what you need when you need it,” she wrote. “I say all this to say – don’t fear the transition. Don’t fear the unknown. Don’t even fear the lack… because it’s in those spaces God makes himself the most known. You can never prepare yourself for the grace you’ll be met with, the peace you’ll be carried with, the love you’ll be held with. He’s a good Father. You might not feel like ‘you got it’, but He does.”
Sadie and Christian love being a family of five — and appreciate God’s hand guiding them to the perfect name for their third daughter!
