MIGHTY DUCKS actor Shaun Weiss asked fans to have respect for his peer Tylor Chase who went viral in December when he was found living on the street in California.

“I’ll tell you what’s not helpful — is people that want to go and see him to get a selfie for their Instagram and giving him money. That’s working against us,” Weiss said in an Instagram video where he asked fans to stop treating Chase like a tourist attraction. “So please, if you could refrain from doing that…it’s not helping. He needs a little space right now, and honestly, we don’t know what to do.”

Weiss and others have been doing everything they can over the past weeks to help Chase get back on his feet. At the end of December, they got him into a rehab facility, but Chase checked himself out a few days later.

While child actors falling on hard times later in life is nothing new, Weiss is working so hard to get Chase back on the right path because he was in a similar situation not too long ago.

The actor was arrested for public intoxication in 2018 and again in 2020 when he broke into a home while under the influence of methamphetamines. Since then, however, he has found freedom from drugs and is incredibly thankful for a “second chance at life.”

“I am getting a second chance at life,” Weiss told NewsNation in 2023. “I’m totally aware of that, and I tried to never take that for granted. [My sobriety is] really the thing I’m proudest of. I’ve had a lot of accomplishments, but this recovery thing is really my proudest accomplishment.”

“I’m really hoping my story can be useful, so it’s not just a sad thing that happened,” he later added.

Getting sober has also allowed Weiss to get back into acting, and he appeared in JESUS REVOLUTION, his first role in 14 years, and was even baptized on set, accepting Jesus as his Lord and Savior.

“I ended up getting baptized…in front of the whole movie production. It was a very nice process, it was really wonderful,” Weiss said, recalling how Greg Laurie approached him with the offer to bring the actor to Christ. “It really wasn’t anything I had been planning on or had thought about, but it made sense the whole time.”

While we do not yet know how Chase’s story will end, it is amazing to see Weiss work hard to save a fellow child actor from the life that he found freedom from not too long ago.
