Texans QB Prays Over Teams After Controversial Game Against Jaguars

The Houston Texans faced off against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
The Texans eventually took the win but not after a controversial hit on Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Per CBS Sports, “Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was carted off the field after taking a hard hit midway through the second quarter of Sunday’s Week 13 loss to the Houston Texans. Lawrence took a second-and-7 snap and scrambled up the left side of the field for a 6-yard gain. As he began sliding to the ground, Texans linebacker Aziz Al-Shaair can be seen rocketing toward him, laying down an illegal helmet-to-helmet hit.”
Immediately after the hit, a huge brawl broke out between the two teams, but despite the controversy, the Texans’ QB is still looking to God.
In a post-game interview with Stroud, the media asked, “…I talked to DeMeco Ryans at halftime, and we talked about everything that went on earlier, and he said, ‘That does not represent us.’ I’m asking you this because you’re wearing a ‘C’ on your chest. How do you feel about the Azeez hit, the fights, and just the optics of all of it today?”
“First, you know, I always gotta give glory and praise to my Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, for this great opportunity,” Stroud began. “Playing NFL. Having the opportunity to play against the Jaguars team and come out to Jacksonville with safe travels, glory goes to God.”

“But it was tough, you know, to see Trev [Trevor Lawrence] go out like that,” he continued. “You know, Azeez, I don’t think that was his intent. But, you know, it sucks to see a player to go down. I’m always trying to pray over both teams. Whenever we take a fail, you know. Everybody wants to leave the field healthy. So, prayers go to Trev. ”
“I hope Azeez learns from it,” he added. “I’m still rocking with my brother. I know he didn’t mean it, you know, he didn’t intend to do that. He’s just gotta be more careful.”
As Stroud looks to lead his team to the playoffs, he remains confident in Christ.
“We’re confident in ourselves knowing that we can do anything through Christ, through Christ who strengthens us,” he added.
