THE CHOSEN’s Elizabeth Tabish Talks ‘Intense’ Fourth Season

By Movieguide® Contributor

THE CHOSEN star Elizabeth Tabish warns viewers about the show’s “painful” upcoming season.

“Hopefully, everyone’s been warned,” Tabish, who plays Mary Magdalene, said. “It’s a really painful season; there’s a lot of grief in this season.”

The actress explained that she often thinks about the end of the show, saying, “I realized after each season’s finished filming, oh, there’s more, and it gets harder; it’s going to get harder and more painful.”

“It’s showing up to work every day in the sun outside, crying over and over and over with all your friends,” Tabish said of filming THE CHOSEN’s difficult scenes. “Every time it’s over, after each season, there’s this relief of like, ‘Oh, I can rest,’ but not for long, knowing what’s coming up the line.”

Tabish elaborated on the upcoming “intense” fourth season in an interview with The Daily Express.

“There are a lot of really unexpected events that really, I think, shakes up the group,” she shared. “Everyone’s struggling to understand the things that are happening around them and to them and it gets very serious. It’s a point of no return.”

Tabish continued, “We’re halfway through the entire show. Season four is right in the middle of the seven seasons we want to do, and it is a point of no return.”

She isn’t the only one warning the audience about an emotional new set of episodes.

“It will be the most challenging [season] to take in emotionally,” Noah James, who plays Andrew, told Deseret News.

He asked viewers, “Are you ready to take this journey with us?” adding, “Because we all know where it ends. This, in some ways, feels like the beginning of the end.”

Movieguide® previously reported on THE CHOSEN’s fourth season:

THE CHOSEN creator Dallas Jenkins revealed that season 4 will have more sorrow mixed with joy as the series reaches its halfway mark and Jesus’ journey continues toward the cross.

“We’re getting closer and closer to what we know is coming,” Jenkins told Fox News. “There’s some extreme pain and sadness that’s coming soon in future seasons.”

To help viewers fully experience these emotions, the entirety of season 4 will be available for viewers to watch in theaters. The first three episodes will hit the big screen starting February 1, 2024.

“…There’s lots of joy, there’s lots of laughter, there’s lots of miracles that we get to experience, which is one of the reasons why we want people to see this on the big screen and see this together,” he said.
