Rebecca St. James and husband Cubbie Fink are sharing the ups and downs of their marriage in their new book, Lasting Ever, and how trusting in God got them through.

“We do hope that the book is encouragement,” St. James said during an interview on Fox News. “It’s like a love letter to people, because I think a lot of people are discouraged about marriage or family or faith or all of it.”

Lasting Ever: Faith, Music, Family, and Being Found by True Love tells the story of St. James and Fink’s relationship and the role faith played in both their lives.

“Through honest conversations about singlehood, marriage, the purity movement, and living in the spotlight, Lasting Ever offers hope to all of us who face challenges but long to embrace life with a heart attuned to God’s grace,” a description of the book reads

St. James shared that the couple went through a series of hardships, from miscarriages and infertility to Fink leaving his band, Foster The People, to the death of his mother.

“It was just, like, thing after thing after thing, and we felt like we didn’t have enough even to encourage each other,” she said. “In that time, all we knew to do was trust God and the pain, that He was going to somehow redeem it, and draw close to each other.”

Fink added, “I was forced to live by faith, potentially for the first time in my life.”

“God’s way is beautiful,” St. James said of His plan for their lives. “And not that we’re going to get it perfect; we need forgiveness and grace, just like anyone else, but His way is both perfect and good, and we’re so thankful for this season.”

Speaking further about “Lasting Ever” in a video posted to social media, St. James said, “We’re really passionate about the topic of this book because we feel that people need encouragement in marriage, parenting and faith. There is just a need for that.”
