Everything We Know About DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN’s MCU Cameos
By Movieguide® Contributor
DAREDEVIL actor Charlie Cox says fans can expect some exciting Marvel Cinematic Universe cameos in the upcoming show, DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN.
“After appearing in cameos and supporting roles in other MCU projects, Charlie Cox will finally get to lead his own series at Marvel Studios, with DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN’s cast also bringing back many actors from the original Netflix Daredevil series as their characters,” Screen Rant reported Aug. 12. “Beyond that, it seems like Matt Murdock will have the company of a couple of MCU characters when DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN season 1 comes out in March 2025.”
“Theres a couple of fun, small moments of collision, but nothing major. I use that word [collision] when characters get together,” Cox said.
Yusef Khan from MS. MARVEL is confirmed to cameo in the series. The character is played by Indian actor Mohan Kapur.
As for the other cameos, there are a handful of characters who might be selected to appear.
“DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN will follow the tone of the original series and be very grounded, characters like Tony Dalton’s Swordsman from Hawkeye and/or Eleanor Bishop, who worked with Kingpin and was arrested, could make an appearance. With the show being set in New York, Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds from the MCU SPIDER-MAN movies is another character who could appear, with Ned being somewhat similar in tone to Kamala Khan’s dad,” Screen Rant said. “DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN season 1’s 9 episodes allow time for multiple MCU cameos.”
Movieguide® reported on the new show’s variations from DAREDEVIL:
Cox acknowledged that some fans will be disappointed by any changes, but was quick to point out that it’s time to do something new with the characters.
“I would say to those people, we’ve done that. Let’s take the things that really worked, but can we broaden?” he explained. “Can we appeal to a slightly younger audience without losing what we’ve learned about what works?”
The original series was nominated for an Epiphany Prize® for Most Inspiring TV Program, but many viewers were turned off by the excessive violence in the show. By removing much of the violence, Disney+ and DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN will bring in a larger audience and will no doubt outperform the original series.
Cox and his co-star, Vincent D’Onofrio, previously told PEOPLE they were shocked that their DAREDEVIL characters would return to screens.
In 2020, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige called to tell them he wanted to bring their characters back to the MCU. But they weren’t sure in what way they would be incorporated.
“Not even in the show at that point, just bringing the characters into MCU.” Cox clarified.
After years with no more phone calls, Cox gave up.
He confessed, “I completely let go.”
“I’d moved on and occasionally Vincent and I would chat and he would say things like, ‘Oh, they’re going to call. I think they’re going to us, but they’re going to call us,'” he recalled. “And I would get off the phone and be like, the guy’s delusional! He’s got to let it go. It’s going to be 10 years and he’s still going. It’s over. It’s definitely over.”
“It became really pathetic in Charlie’s eyes,” D’Onofrio added before Cox acknowledged, “He was right. I didn’t see it. For me, it was shocking. Shocking. It was a great show and been silly for love.”
DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN will release in March 2025.
