Zach Williams, Dolly Parton Team Up for Another Collaboration

Zach Williams is opening up about how he got Dolly Parton to join him again for another single, “Lookin’ For You.”
The duo were previously nominated for a Grammy for their duet “There Was Jesus.” Movieguide® previously reported:
“This is very much my story if I think back to the last 20 years that it took me to get to where I’m at in my life,” Williams said. “Even if I go back further than that to my childhood, I think about all these moments that I missed in my life…now I can look back and see that God was in the middle of every one of them and working out the details. It’s just a special song.”
Williams recalled that Parton recognized immediately that the song was “special.”
“I wrote the song with a couple other people and when we got the demo back, I heard this girls voice on it that just reminded me of Dolly Parton’s and I said ‘wouldn’t it be really cool if we could get Dolly Parton to really sing on this.’ Everybody kind of laughed but we tracked down her management and she agreed to listen to the song. The day that I met her, she told me that she didn’t even make it to the chorus and she knew it was special,” Williams said.
At first, Williams wasn’t sure if Parton would be interested in collaborating again.
“Dolly [Parton] has a way of like making you feel like you’re the only person in the room,” Williams said on “The Bobby Bones Show.” “She is so down to earth and so humble and just so much fun. She’s like the fun aunt at Christmas that everybody wants to see and hangout with.”
One day, Williams and Parton were “eating pork rinds and blue cheese dip that she just made and I’m about to play her my song.”
“So, I play her the song and she’s like humming along harmony parts and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s really cool,'” Williams described. “And then as the song’s finishing, she’s like whipping tears out of her eyes, and she slaps me on the leg, and she’s like, ‘Zach. That’s beautiful. Why didn’t you ask me to sing on that one?’ And I was like, ‘I didn’t know if you’d want to.’ She was like, ‘Well, I thought we did pretty good on the first one.’ I was like, ‘You’re right.’
“I still thought she was joking,” he continued, “and so, a year later we were trying to decide what we wanted to do as, you know, a last single on this record and I said, ‘Well, Dolly did say she would sing on it.’ And I didn’t know if she really would.”
She did, in fact, join him.
In addition to his album, “A Hundred Highways,” Williams is going to release a new children’s book titled, “A Little More Like Jesus.”
“This fun picture book is an invitation for children aged 4-8 to hop on board and embark on a ride that will teach them about the fruits of the spirit and how to be a little more like Jesus every day,” he wrote on a social media post promoting the book.
