Zachary Levi to Star in New Movie, NOT WITHOUT HOPE

Zachary Levi, best known for SHAZAM! and AMERICAN UNDERDOG, recently announced his next project, NOT WITHOUT HOPE.
According to an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter, Levi stars in a new movie based on Nick Schuyler and Jere Longman’s best-selling novel of the same name.

Based on a true story, Not Without Hope follows best friends Schuyler (Levi) and Will Bleakley, and NFL players Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith, as they depart Clearwater, Florida for a day trip at their favorite fishing spot 70 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico. As a severe storm heads their way, a trapped anchor causes their boat to capsize, throwing the four friends violently into the freezing water. With the U.S. Coast Guard’s air and sea rescue mission thwarted by the ferocity of the massive storm, the group must fight to survive in the ultimate test of teamwork and endurance.
“I am truly honored to be part of this deeply moving project,” Levi said. “Not Without Hope is a tragic true story of loss and courage, that’s important to share.”
“Nick Schuyler’s grueling trial at sea and his ultimate survival is a deeply inspiring tale of determination and perseverance but we have a much greater responsibility with this movie as it will hopefully serve as a lasting memorial to the men who lost their lives alongside him during that terrible ordeal,” director Joe Carnahan added. “We have to honor their final sacrifice and never lose sight of the larger moral obligation we have as filmmakers with Not Without Hope.”
According to Adam Beasley of Volition Media, the movie celebrates “the power of hope and perseverance.”

Actor Zachary Levi, known for his role in 2019’s SHAZAM! and Disney’s TANGLED, teamed up with the Erwin brothers in his latest role as NFL MVP Kurt Warner in AMERICAN UNDERDOG.
Levi said that he connected with Warner’s story of faith, perseverance, and sacrifice on more than one level.
“We definitely have a lot of crossover and how we came up in life and the type of Christian background and values,” Levi told Movieguide®. “But even outside of the spiritual faith aspect, there’s so much faith involved in this movie.
“Brenda’s faith in Kurt was a huge part of him believing in himself even more and being able to go and attain those dreams,” Levi explained. “The faith that her son Zach had in Kurt, and the faith that Kurt and Brenda had in Zach, to keep growing and become the young man that he has become—who’s just a ray of sunshine in this world—all of that stuff, to me, is the inspiration behind all of that. The hope that it builds, that makes a movie like this really, really worth doing.”
