Movieguide® and Hallmark Movie Channel Celebrate
Most Inspiring Performances of the Year May 16
The 19th Annual Movieguide® Faith & Values Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry will hand out the Grace Awards for Most Inspiring Performances in Movies & TV at 7 pm Monday on the Hallmark Movie Channel.
The Grace Awards honors actors whose performance in a movie and television program “exemplifies God’s grace and mercy toward us as human beings.”
“In addition to honoring an actor who delivers an exceptional performance, the Grace Awards goes one step further and honors the spiritual component of the performance. It’s one of the important awards viewers will see on May 16,” said Dr. Ted Baehr, founder of the Christian Film & Television Commission®, which sponsors the awards.
For movies, the Grace Award nominees are Georgie Henley for THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER, Tanner Maguire for LETTERS TO GOD, John Ratzenberger, Kevin Sorbo and Kristy Swanson for WHAT IF. . ., Denzel Washington for THE BOOK OF ELI, and Randy Wayne and Joshua Weigel for TO SAVE A LIFE.
For television, the nominees are Dean Cain and Sonny Shroyer for THE WAY HOME, Matt Letscher, Madison Mason and Kimberly Williams-Paisley for AMISH GRACE, Brad Stine and Nancy Stafford for CHRISTMAS WITH A CAPITAL C, and Barry Pepper and Winona Ryder for WHEN LOVE IS NOT ENOUGH: THE LOIS WILSON STORY.
The Movieguide® Awards will air Monday, May 16, 2011 on the Hallmark Movie Channel at 7 pm (note the new time!).
Dr. Baehr is chairman of the Christian Film & Television Commission® (CFTVC) ministry and its family guide to movies, Movieguide® (www.movieguide.org). CFTVC and Movieguide® are an international non-profit ministry dedicated to “redeeming the values of the entertainment industry by influencing industry executives and by informing and equipping the public about the influence of the entertainment media.”
