94 FEET

"It’s Never Too Late for Redemption"

Watch:

What You Need To Know:

Based on true events, 94 FEET is about Chris Rossi, a hard-working miner and a loving family man living in the struggling mining town of St. Michaels. When the mine has to make drastic cutbacks to avoid shutting down the mine completely, Chris decides to quit alongside his co-workers. On the last day of work, the mine collapses, leaving Chris’s team trapped 94 feet underground with little hope of survival. During this time of fear and uncertainty, the families above and the miners below must let go of their prejudices, pull together and find hope and grace in Christ.

94 FEET has an interesting storyline and fairly engaging characters. This is somewhat diminished by some mediocre acting and writing. Overall, however, it’s an entertaining movie that does a good job showing the bravery of mine workers and the importance of a strong and loving family. It also does a good job showing the sovereignty of God, the power of the Gospel and the importance of prayer. Due to some mature themes and intense scenes, 94 FEET requires some caution for younger children.

Content:

(CCC, BBB, V, S, A, M) Strong Christian, biblical, moral worldview with multiple Scripture quotes, clear explanation of the Gospel, a positive portrayal of Christians, prayer in Jesus Christ’s name, a couple of crosses are shown, emphasis that God always has a plan, and promoting kindness, selflessness, forgiveness, and family values; one use of “heck;” people die from mine collapse, with some blood seen but it’s not graphic; conversation about a woman having an affair; no nudity; a brief reference to saloons and drinking too much; and, a comment on racism, but racism is rebuked.
