More Detail:
“The First Martyr,” Episode 5 of A.D. THE BIBLE CONTINUES, shows Pilate continuing tosearch for Boaz, the man who killed the centurion. Peter’s words about Christian love encourage Boaz to surrender. Meanwhile, Peter and the apostles are put on trial for preaching about Jesus. Eventually, Caiaphas has them flogged. This enrages Stephen, who castigates the Jewish leaders for always trying to kill God’s prophets. His words about Jesus enrage the mob and lead to his murder, while Saul watches in approval.
Episode 5 of A.D. THE BIBLE CONTINUES condenses several chapters in the Book of Acts into one 44-minute episode. It makes for dramatic, concise storytelling, though some Scripture details are deleted. Still, “The First Martyr” has a strong storyline, with the only caution being some intense violence, such as Stephen’s stoning. This thrilling episode lifts up Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and Christ’s message of love for all people. Some of the most exciting parts of the Book of Acts are yet to come, but Episode 5 is a great example of the best THE BIBLE CONTINUES has to offer.
