The episode opens with Alexa getting chemotherapy at her oncologist’s office with her best friend, Katie, by her side. Alexa and Katie are excited about attending the first day of high school together until Alexa learns that her hair is starting to fall out because of her chemo treatments.. Alexa worries about how the other youth at school will judge her. She doesn’t tell Katie about her hair.
Alexa tricks her friend Katie into helping her TP the high school principal’s house in hopes that the two will be expelled and won’t have to go to high school. She tells Katie they are going to TP the house of a girl with whom the two are feuding. However, when they are at the house with Katie’s little brother, the principal catches them in the act.
The next day, Alexa and Katie are called into the principal’s office, and the two get suspended for three days during the first high school week. Katie is angry that Alexa lied to her about whose house they were raiding, and she storms home. However, at home she finds a clump of Alexa’s hair in the wool hat Alexa borrowed from Katie for the TP raid.
Katie goes to Alexa’s house, and Alexa explains that she’s embarrassed because of her hair. Katie forgives Alexa and offers her support that it will be okay. Alexa explains that she doesn’t want to be the sick girl at school and be treated differently. To offer her best friend support, Katie decides to shave off her hair in solidarity, and Alexa does the same. How will their parents react?
