PATHFINDER

What You Need To Know:

PATHFINDER is a violence festival along the lines of 300. This time “noble” American Indians are pitted against extremely sinister Vikings. The movie opens showing the aftermath of Viking/Indian war one. An Indian woman discovers a Viking ship littered with the bodies left from a horrible struggle. She finds a Viking boy alive and takes him back to the village where he is eventually accepted and raised by the Indians, who call him "Ghost." Fifteen years later, Ghost has grown up to look like a hunk just in time for Viking War II. With his unique understanding of both cultures and his skill with a sword, he manages to slaughter many of those who are busy slaughtering the Indians.

The brutality in PATHFINDER is extreme. The movie features torture scenes that are just gratuitous violence put in to attract violence-hungry men. The brief moments when someone is not being killed exist only to set up the next round of gruesome slaughter. One almost laughable line is when a Viking beast-being says, “Kill the savages,” even as he proceeds to be one of the most savage characters ever recorded on film.

Content:

(PaPa, PC, RH, L, VVV, N, DD, MM) Strong pagan worldview with politically correct, revisionist history where Viking villains are out to slaughter and conquer American Indians; four obscenities; extreme and excessive violence throughout with torture and slaughter of men, women and children (the violence and torture is too repulsive to describe in detail); no sexual content; American Indian wardrobe with some upper male nudity; no alcohol; ceremonial pipe smoked and one possible reference to peyote or similar drug substance; and, kidnapping and much cruelty.

More Detail:

PATHFINDER is a violence festival along the lines of 300. This time THE “noble” American Indians are pitted against the most sinister Vikings imaginable. The movie opens showing the aftermath of Viking/Indian war one. An Indian woman discovers a Viking ship littered with the bodies left from a horrible struggle. She finds a Viking boy alive and takes him back to the village, where he is eventually accepted and raised by the Indians, who call him “Ghost.”

Fifteen years later, Ghost has grown up to look like a hunk just in time for Viking War II. With his unique understanding of both cultures and his skill with a sword, he manages to slaughter many of those who are busy slaughtering the Indians.

The brutality in PATHFINDER is extreme. The movie features torture scenes that are just gratuitous violence put in to attract violence-hungry men. The audience at the screening was entirely men.

Like 300 the majority of the movie is in something close to a high contrast black and white. The brief moments when someone is not being killed exist only to set up the next round of slaughter.

Several scenes are shot in a manner where it’s difficult to tell what’s happening to whom, you just know someone is getting slaughtered. One almost laughable line is when a Viking beast-being says, “Kill the savages,” even as he proceeds to be one of the most savage characters ever recorded on film.

One has to wonder why a studio would make 300 or PATHFINDER. Do they have research that shows there are millions of blood-thirsty men out there anxious to drink this stuff in? Is it the violent video game crowd? The success of ultra violent movies should be of major concern to Americans. This is not a healthy trend. This year we have seen a glut of horror shows and several ultra-violent movies.

20th Century Fox recently released the delightful movie FIREHOUSE DOG. Pray that it does better than PATHFINDER.
