THE COMEBACKS

What You Need To Know:

THE COMEBACKS stars David Koechner as a demented coach who can lose at any sport. After retiring from coaching to become a racehorse sperm collector, he gets a job coaching the Comebacks, an inept small college football team. The plot is little more than an excuse to present repulsive jokes like the coach chastising his players for getting good grades. The coach insists that if you really care about football you will skip classes and party after games by getting drunk and using drugs. As the team makes their run at the championship, numerous scenes recall the plots of other sports movies.

THE COMEBACKS is a sickening, poorly done satire so heavily laden with sexual innuendos it is repulsive. Words that don’t qualify as obscenities are used to imply the same vulgar concepts. The actors are constantly called on to look and sound stupid. They succeed. The filmmakers work hard to be as pathetic as possible for 84 minutes while mocking admirable characters from movies like RUDY, RADIO, REMEMBER THE TITANS, and INVINCIBLE. If you want to see a really funny sports satire, go rent HORSEFEATHERS with the Marx Brothers.

Content:

(PaPaPa, HoHo, LLL, VV, SSS, N, AA, DD, MMM) Grossly very strong pagan worldview where sex, drugs and alcohol are promoted, plus some homosexual characters, including star football player’s father is a cross dresser; 34 obscenities, six strong profanities and four light profanities, plus many sexual innuendos and derogatory terms like “retard” and “moron”; highly exaggerated football violence along with people being hit by busses and experiencing painful falls; implied adultery and fornication, nearly constant sexual jokes and comments, strong homosexual references (including depicted cross-dressing and a lesbian kiss), reference to bestiality, and young man gropes girl in bra made to look like footballs; girl’s clothes ripped off to reveal bikini underwear, men in shower shown low waist up, female cleavage in several scenes, and coach strips to his underwear and is chased by police; men drink from huge beer cans and coach brings alcohol to his players; man chews and spits out tobacco and coach brings illegal drugs to his players; and, dishonesty, racism, cheating, and insults galore

More Detail:

THE COMEBACKS is a sickening sports-movie satire so heavily laden with sexual innuendos it is repulsive. This movie is a serious disgrace to 20th Century Fox, the company that once made THE SOUND OF MUSIC.

THE COMEBACKS stars David Koechner as a demented coach who can lose at any sport. After retiring from coaching to become a race horse sperm collector he is offered a job coaching the Comebacks, an inept small college football team. The plot, if you call it that, is little more than an excuse to present repulsive jokes like the coach chastising his players for getting good grades. The coach insists that if you really care about football you will skip classes, get Ds and Fs and party after games by getting drunk and using drugs.

In one scene before a game, the coach asks his players to bow their heads and close their eyes. He zips up his zipper. The language, while not bad enough to earn the movie an R rating, is repulsive. Words that don’t qualify as obscenities are used to imply the same vulgar concepts. The scriptwriters hope this movie can make a profit by being gross. The actors are constantly called on to look and sound stupid. They succeed. The filmmakers work hard to be as pathetic as possible for 84 minutes while mocking admirable characters from movies like RUDY, RADIO, REMEMBER THE TITANS, and INVINCIBLE.

While spending far less money, the makers of FACING THE GIANTS created a football movie that inspires and uplifts audiences. People’s lives have been profoundly changed for the better because they saw FACING THE GIANTS. The same will never be said for THE COMEBACKS. If anything, this movie mocks what’s good about America and says to the world Americans are a bunch of fools interested only in sex, beer and drugs.

Someone thought this obnoxious script was worth investing millions of dollars. Why?

THE COMEBACKS sells sex, drugs and alcohol as “fun” to fools who are too blind to see the bondage they’re incurring.

Comedy can be a delightful genre. It is a joy to be amused by talented and tasteful filmmakers. Tasteful comedies often make lots of money. Sadly, THE COMEBACKS is a prime example of the dark side of comedy, where laughs are sought by appealing to the worst in human nature.
