IN MY SLEEP

"Spine Tingling Thriller"

What You Need To Know:

IN MY SLEEP begins with Marcus, a sleepwalker, who awakes covered in blood and a bloody knife by his bed. Marcus learns his best friend’s wife has been murdered. Thinking he unknowingly killed her in his sleep, Marcus tries to recreate the fateful night. As he works to discover the truth, he meets with his mom and slowly learns of a terrible secret from his past tied to his sleepwalking. The police and everyone suspect him of murder. As lies and betrayals are revealed, the plot reveals the real killer.

IN MY SLEEP is a brilliantly written thriller that genuinely keeps one guessing throughout the movie as to what is behind Marcus’ secret and who killed the woman. At the start, Marcus is sexually promiscuous, but joins a 12-step group that meets in a church. Marcus meets his neighbor, who goes to church, gives him a Bible, and tells him about God’s forgiveness. In a subtle, yet powerful way, Marcus is able to understand God’s forgiveness in the end. Note, however, that God’s forgiveness is discussed with no mention of Jesus. Caution needs to be exercised for the movie’s mature themes.

More Detail:

IN MY SLEEP is the story of Marcus, a sleepwalker who wakes up covered in blood, a bloody knife by his bed and learns his best friend’s wife has been murdered. Thinking he has unknowingly killed her in his sleep, Marcus tries everything he can to recreate the night when he would have committed the murder. Terrible dreams haunt him. Also, two women come into his life as he tries to figure out what’s happening. As he works to discover the truth, he meets with his mom and slowly learns of a terrible secret from his past that is tied to his sleepwalking.

Meanwhile, the police and even Marcus’s best friend and the victim’s sister all suspect Marcus of murder. As lies and betrayals are revealed, the plot reveals the real killer.

IN MY SLEEP is a brilliantly written thriller that genuinely keeps one guessing throughout the movie as to what is behind Marcus’ secret and who killed the woman. There are plenty of “red herrings,” characters who keep you from guessing the real killer. The pacing is superb and the performances top topnotch. Allen Wolf has created a very well made thriller.

Marcus is sexually promiscuous, but joins a 12-step group that meets in a church. Before he does, the movie shows him philandering through an implied sex scene with a woman he just met at a bar.

Marcus meets his neighbor, who goes to church, gives him a Bible, and tells him about God’s forgiveness. In a subtle, yet powerful way, Marcus is able to understand God’s forgiveness in the end. Note, however, that “God’s forgiveness” is discussed with no mention of Jesus.

IN MY SLEEP has no foul language, and the onscreen violence is limited. There are haunting images in Marcus’s nightmares that ultimately provide the clues to the family secret kept for so many years.

Caution needs to be exercised because of the movie’s mature themes.
