LEVERAGE: REDEMPTION: Season 3, Episode 1

"Moving Onward and Upward"

What You Need To Know:

LEVERAGE: REDEMPTION's third season, streaming on Prime Video, brings back what has worked so well for the series: a Robin Hood-like romp with a cast of dynamic characters. The crew that audiences have come to know so well is back to conning the rich to bring justice for the poor, and they do it with humor, fun pacing, and engaging dialogue. The sound design adds to the episode's energy, matching cartoony sound effects and upbeat music with whatever humor or action a scene calls for. Overall, viewers who remember the returning cast fondly will feel like they're returning to form in this third season without ever getting bored.

Even though LEVERAGE: REDEMPTION begins Season 3 with the usual moral worldview of championing justice, its characters still accomplish this with immoral means. The entire episode revolves around lying, violence, pairs foul language with the mention of an orgy, and even finds time to fit in Anti-Capitalist and anti-patriotic sentiment. Because of these things, MOVIEGUIDE® advises extreme caution for cults and teenagers.

More Detail:

The LEVERAGE: REDEMPTION crew is back on Prime Video after a two-year gap, ready to foil twisted business heads worldwide in the first episode of season 3. LEVERAGE: REDEMPTION continues to follow mastermind Sophie, hitter Eliot, thief Parker, hacker Hardison, and fixer Harry as they use their criminal skills to bring wicked, wealthy people to justice.

This time, the anti-heroes find their weekend in Paris disrupted by a failed job. They leap out of the frying pan and into the fire when they crash an American water dealer’s international auction party, discovering that his business is bleeding small towns dry. Sophie must lead her team to halt the tycoon’s enterprise without giving away their true identities. At the same time, Hardison juggles what he wants for his future, and Sophie struggles to grow her relationships.

LEVERAGE: REDEMPTION’s third season starts with the series’ usual balance between action peppered with banter and loveable characters wrestling with the drama of their pasts. Audiences will have no trouble rooting for the crew as they do what they do best: helping those who can’t help themselves cheerfully and with no thought for their safety. Watching the humor and chemistry between the main characters play out is appealing, especially in stressful circumstances. The quality of the set pieces and digital editing in the series has improved, keeping the focus on the adventure.

The first episode of Season 3 may be a return to form, but viewers who have seen LEVERAGE: REDEMPTION will remember that this form is cluttered with concerns. This episode centers around the crew’s usual operation outside of the law. Though the main characters act for moral reasons, such as helping those less fortunate and fighting against injustice, they consistently break the law, lie constantly, and steal to do so.

While they’re at it, they criticize the government, mock Russia and America, and shine a negative light on Capitalism. These immoral elements add to the violence that hitter Eliot and even hacker Hardison use to dispatch their enemies, sensual conversation about a pretend orgy and foul language. Therefore, MOVIEGUIDE® advises extreme caution for teenagers and adults.
