SORDID LIVES

What You Need To Know:

SORDID LIVES is a complicated tale about three generations of a Texas family who come together when their elderly matriarch dies while having a tryst with a middle-aged married man. Bonnie Bedelia plays Latrelle, one of the daughters of the woman, who has locked away her elder son, a homosexual cross dresser, in a psychiatric ward for 20 years. Latrelle’s other son, Ty, is a homosexual actor in Los Angeles, who dreads going home to the funeral. Delta Burke of TV’s DESIGNING WOMEN is the wronged wife, who decides to take revenge on her philandering husband, a double amputee.

References are made to Christianity in this movie, but the point of view of the whole story, including that of the allegedly “Christian” characters, is a strongly pagan one that attacks practically all forms of moral judgment. Ironically, to go along with the movie’s pro-homosexual viewpoint, SORDID LIVES also has a strong feminist viewpoint and a double standard, where the husband’s philandering is viewed in a much worse light than the grandmother’s philandering. Thus, SORDID LIVES has a truly abhorrent pagan worldview, as well as many immoral pagan attitudes about sex, foul language and nudity.

More Detail:

SORDID LIVES is a complicated tale about three generations of a Texas family who come together when their elderly matriarch dies while having a tryst with a middle-aged married man, played by Beau Bridges. Bonnie Bedelia of DIE HARD plays Latrelle, one of the daughters of the woman, who has locked away her elder son, a flaming, homosexual cross dresser, in a psychiatric ward for 20 years. Latrelle’s other son, Ty, meanwhile, is a homosexual actor in Los Angeles, who dreads going home to the funeral.

Ironically, however, to go along with the movie’s pro-homosexual viewpoint, SORDID LIVES also has a strong feminist viewpoint and a double standard, where the husband’s philandering is viewed in a much worse light than the grandmother’s philandering. Thus, SORDID LIVES has a truly abhorrent pagan worldview, as well as many immoral pagan attitudes about sex, foul language and nudity. Its view of Southern Americans is also offensive and full of nasty stereotypes. In other words, SORDID LIVES is a thoroughly despicable movie.

Contrary to the point of view in this movie, the Bible says that, although God offers forgiveness for all our sins through Jesus Christ, including all the sins on display in SORDID LIVES, God also wants us to repent from their sins, and to encourage other people to repent of their own sins, in a loving, kindly manner, of course. None of that lets unrepentant sinners off the hook, however.
