What You Need To Know:
UNDERWORLD 3 is well made, as action fantasy movies go. The story has some twists, though it does cover the “hero theme” made familiar by STARS WARS and LORD OF THE RINGS. The movie is extremely violent and very bloody, however. There is much gore as beasts eat people and creatures are chopped in half. The worldview is very pagan, as the vampires are immortal and Lucian offers his fellow prisoners a chance for immortality. The Bible says we are already immortal and get to choose where to spend eternity, through Jesus Christ. The movie has no foul language but contains scenes of depicted sex between the two main characters.
Content:
(PaPaPa, VVV, SS, N, MM) Very strong fantasy pagan worldview about vampires, werewolves and immortality with a strong revenge motive; no obscenities or profanities; extreme violence with much blood and gore, martial arts fighting, battle fights, sword fighting, many killed by spears, mutants beasts chopped in half, humans eaten by wolf monsters, whipping and beating; depicted sexual scenes of unmarried couple; upper male nudity, implied female nudity, female cleavage; no alcohol; no smoking; and, lying, deception, revenge, and negative father figure.
More Detail:
UNDERWORLD 3 is a prequel of how the vampires, humans and werewolves went to war with one another. When Lucian, a creature that is part human and part werewolf, is born, he is kept as a powerful protector/slave by Viktor, the head vampire. More creatures like Lucian are bred, and they become a race known as the Lycans.
Now grown, Lucian falls in love with Viktor’s daughter, Princess Sonja. Lucian violates Viktor’s rules in order to protect Sonja and is brutally punished for violating the rules. This leads Lucian to lead a revolt of the Lycans against the vampires, setting the stage for an epic war. However, this action pits father against daughter, and the epic story begins.
UNDERWORLD 3 is well made, as action fantasy movies go. The story has some twists, though it does cover the “hero theme” made familiar by STARS WARS and LORD OF THE RINGS. There aren’t really any surprises, but it moves quickly and the action never stops.
The movie is extremely violent and very bloody. There is much gore as beasts eat people, creatures are chopped in half, and there is much traditional swordplay. The worldview is very pagan, as the vampires are immortal, and Lucian offers his fellow prisoners a “chance for immortality.” The Bible tells us that while we are all born immortal, we get to choose if we spend eternity with God or away from God based on our relationship with Jesus Christ.
There is surprisingly no foul language, but there are scenes of depicted fornication between the two main characters.
UNDERWORLD 3 is a movie deserving much caution. Media-wise fantasy fans may want to view THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy or the NARNIA movies.
