THE TREE OF LIFE

Quality:
****
Content:
-1 Caution advised for older children, including teenagers, and sensitive adults.
THE TREE OF LIFE, the grand prize winner at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, is an impressionistic story of a boy’s complicated relationship to his Catholic mother and devout and loving, but strict, Catholic father, which is told as an archetypal story set against the background of God’s Creation of the universe and man’s relationship to God and other people. THE TREE OF LIFE is an obscenity-free kaleidoscope of raw emotions, lyrical passages and cosmic grandeur, but it’s an unconventional movie without a typical plot, though there is some positive Christian content and values.
