AIR BUD: WORLD PUP

Watch:

What You Need To Know:

AIR BUD: WORLD PUP is a new video based on the characters from the original AIR BUD movie. When Josh brings his sister to school, there’s a new beautiful soccer coach who’s also a student, a young girl from England named Tammy who’s just moved to town. Josh is immediately smitten, so he joins the soccer team. Of course, they’re one person short. So, who’s going to be the last player on the team? Why, it’s Air Bud. With Air Bud and Tammy on the team, the team starts winning. Complications ensue, however, from another soccer coach and a couple of dog catchers who think Air Bud and his girlfriend, another beautiful golden retriever, are a gold mine.

The AIR BUD storyline is a little shaky, but it doesn’t matter because the warm fuzzy moments carried the movie. The dog catchers disappear for long segments of the movie. The romance between Josh and Tammy comes and goes. The soccer storyline gets left behind, then picks up again. But, even though all these storylines are bedraggled, the lovable moral virtues of the movie come through clearly. Even my 17-year-old son was smitten by AIR BUD: WORLD PUP

Content:

(BBB, H, V, M) Very strong moral worldview with one silly humanistic statement that you should have faith in yourself; and some slapstick violence, such as pushing and shoving during soccer games.

More Detail:

The original AIR BUD was a terrific movie that did well at the box office and in video. It has spawned several sequels, with more to come. AIR BUD: WORLD PUP is the second sequel to the original AIR BUD movie. The first sequel was AIR BUD: GOLDEN RECEIVER. The good news about each of these is that they’re very clean, wholesome, moral, and extraordinarily cute. In fact, it would be hard to find a cuter movie than this one, AIR BUD: WORLD PUP.

The movie opens at the wedding of Josh’s mother to his new stepfather. Remember, in the original AIR BUD, his father had died and that’s why they moved to this rural community. Josh is supposed to be the ring bearer but can’t find the ring. He asks Air Bud to get the ring, and Air Bud takes off to save the wedding.

On the way, he notices a beautiful golden retriever that’s just moved to town and drops the ring at her feet. Then, he thinks twice and brings the ring to the wedding. However, it is clear that there’s romance afoot. This new retriever does not have a dog tag, so two dog catchers are trying to catch her. Thus, the villains enter the picture.

With Air Bud and Tammy on the team, they start winning. Of course, the championship team is not happy about being challenged this year. Their coach tries to get Air Bud disqualified. Meanwhile Air Bud and his beloved have puppies and the dog catchers think these golden retrievers are a gold mine. Everything progresses to a photo finish during the last championship game when Air Bud and his pals try to rescue the puppies from the evil dog catchers.

WORLD PUP’S storyline is a little shaky at times, but it doesn’t matter because the warm fuzzy moments carry the movie. The dog catchers disappear for long segments of the movie. The romance between Josh and Tammy comes and goes. The soccer storyline gets left behind, then picks up again. Even though all these storylines are bedraggled, however, the lovable moral virtues of the movie come through clearly. Even my 17-year-old son was smitten by AIR BUD: WORLD PUP.

This video is reminiscent of some of the wonderful Disney movies of the 1960s. It is not only a movie you can trust, it also provides trustworthy values. The only negative is a humanist statement that you should have faith in yourself when only God is worthy of our faith, and some slapstick violence on the soccer field and with the dog catchers. Actually, AIR BUD: WORLD PUP is a warm, lovable version of 102 DALMATIANS and is the movie that Disney should have made.
