Netflix:
CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY is a wondrously quirky and heartwarming adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book about poor Charlie Bucket’s fantastic, life-changing visit to Willy Wonka’s amazing candy factory. The movie imparts many positive moral messages, not the least of which is the fact that having a loving family is the best reward of all.
MEGAMIND (June 11)
MEGAMIND features the title character super villain battling his archenemy superhero Metro Man, only to find that he himself might make a good hero. A very entertaining movie with a redemptive heart, MEGAMIND has slapstick violence and some edgy elements requiring caution for young children.
PINK PANTHER 2 brings back bumbling Inspector Clouseau, played by Steve Martin, who leads a team of top detectives trying to stop a thief who’s stealing priceless items. Though it contains a few light profanities and slapstick violence, this excellent movie delivers many laughs with mostly clean content and a positive message supporting marriage.
PAUL BLART: MALL COP is a rather dull and poorly written portrayal of a wannabe cop who saves the day by capturing the bad guys and rescuing the hostages through slapstick physical comedy. Although the filmmakers try to add some family elements to the movie, some awkward violence, sexual references, foul language, and a scene of drunkenness spoil the fun.

MARY POPPINS RETURNS, set years after the original Disney movie musical, finds Michael Banks (and his sister Jane) all grown up, and Michael has his own children who are in desperate need of a Nanny. MARY POPPINS RETURNS has a strong moral worldview, with more imagination and less magical thinking, about supporting each other as a family. Adorable and enjoyable, MARY POPPINS RETURNS will entertain the entire family.
THE CROODS is a new animated comedy about one of the world’s first families, who are fearful of the new when their cave is suddenly destroyed. THE CROODS is a fun adventure with a family who truly love each other, but it has some humanist, environmentalist elements.
New on Hulu:

ASTRO BOY is an animated science fiction movie about a robot boy who must battle an evil politician while trying to gain the approval of the scientist who made him. It is very exciting and action packed with strong moral themes and a redemptive, allegorical ending depicting Christian principles.

LETTERS TO JULIET is a surprisingly chaste, entertaining movie about Sophie who writes a response letter to a fifty-year-old “letter to Juliet” from Claire at a sort of “wailing wall” in Verona, Italy, that draws Claire back to Italy in search of the long-lost heartthrob. LETTERS TO JULIET has a Romantic worldview with Christian aesthetic signs, marred by exclamatory profanities and a few paintings and statues (some nude) representing mild sexual liaisons, but it strongly affirms marriage.
