‘Redemption, Reconciliation’: DUCK DYNASTY Family Meets Phil Robertson’s Adult Daughter

By Tess Farrand, Associate Content Editor

DUCK DYNASTY patriarch Phil Robertson recently learned he has a daughter, Phylliss, from an affair prior to giving his life to Jesus years ago. The Robertson family recently met Phylliss and welcomed her with open arms.

“It’s a pretty cool explanation of redemption, reconciliation, love,” said Phil. “As it turns out, 45 years, you have a daughter that you don’t know about, and she has a father she doesn’t know about. 45 years that doesn’t sound like very long but you say, that’s a while. So finally, after all those years, we come together.”

The eldest Robertson brothers, Alan and Jase, both received letters from Phylliss who believed Phil was her father. The two brought up the letter to their father, and he was ready to get a DNA test to confirm the speculation.

“DNA results are back, and…I have a sister,” said the second son of Phil and Kay Robertson, Jase, to his wife Missy.

Phil’s wife of over 50 years, Miss Kay Robertson, handled the paternity results with grace.

Phil recalled, “By the way, Miss Kay over the entire 45 years [before learning about Phylliss] warned me or at least alerted me, she said, ‘someone will come out of your past of that wild riotous living.’’

Alan said, “Dad didn’t remember anything, no specifics about it, was interesting because mom remembered a lot more than you did, which the more I got thinking about that later you were drunk the whole time.”

Still, Phil has never shied away from his days before the Lord.

“I owned a beer joint when some guy came in with a Bible and he wanted to introduce me to Jesus,” said Phil in a White Chair Film. “I ran him away. I said, ‘Get outta here.’ [Then] I’d take another drink.”

Phil was on the brink of destruction when heard the gospel and gave his life to Jesus, to the shock and awe of his wife and growing family.

Decades later, Phil’s faith in Jesus Christ gives him hope that He works all things for the good of those who love him (Rom. 8:28), including an unexpected addition to the family.

Korie Robertson, wife of the third Robertson brother, Willie, said via Instagram:

We have a new sister! We found out not long ago that Phil has a daughter, and Willie and his brothers have a sister. It was as much a surprise to all of us as it probably is to you, but life is full of surprises, and this one is especially sweet! Our annual family beach pics were even crazier, and the Robertson men are now officially outnumbered so we’re feeling pretty good right about now, ha! Welcome to the fam, Phyllis; I promise it’s never boring 🙂

Jep, the youngest Robertson son always got teased by his older brothers for being the “sister they never had.” Now, his dream of having a sister is a reality.
