Kevin Sorbo Wants to See Movies ‘That Have Something Positive, Something Good’

Outspoken conservative Christian actor Kevin Sorbo recently sat down with Kirk Cameron to champion the need for people to stand up for truth in a culture that hates it.

“When I tell people I’m a Christian and a conservative, it’s like being a double leper in Hollywood,” Sorbo told Kirk Cameron on Cameron’s latest episode of TAKEAWAYS. “Being conservative is enough, but being a Christian seems to be even a more bad thing to be in Hollywood, it’s very strange to me.”

The HERCULES actor said his agents left him once his conservative and Christian values became known.

“My manager and agent bid farewell to me 11 years ago now,” he recalled. “It was like an intervention. You guys are the ones who are all screaming for tolerance and freedom of speech, but as you know in the secular world of Hollywood that’s a one-way street, and thank God for independent movies… Without it I don’t think I’d be working at all right now.”

Sorbo notes that anger and hatred fuel efforts to silence Christian viewpoints.

“They’ve done such a good job of beating us down through the mainstream media, through the government, just over and over and over again,” Sorbo confessed. “The anger and hatred out there… I can say it’s a beautiful day and I’ll have five percent of my followers say I hope you die I, hope your daughter gets raped, I mean the stuff they say is unbelievable.

“These people have their own problems,” he continued. “These people do not have that love your neighbor as yourself, these are people are filled with so much anger and hate and disappointment in their lives they’re pointing at you and me, God, family, friends, the world, for their problems. They gotta look in the mirror and say this is where it starts but they don’t do that.”

Despite the constant barrage from people who want to silence the truth, Sorbo said he wants to encourage other believers to stand up for what they believe.

“We can’t be afraid of what people are gonna say,” Sorbo explained. “If we start censoring ourselves and censoring the truth then… this country is already in enough trouble the way it is. We gotta keep fighting back and that’s why I tell people, ‘I’m not here to wake up the sheep, I’m here to wake up the lions.'”

While the 63-year-old actor said he is thankful for the “doors God opened,” he wants to encourage Christians to support the Good, the True, and the Beautiful in entertainment.
