Storming the Castle: Chip and Joanna Gaines to Renovate 19th Century Landmark in New Series

By Movieguide® Contributor

Chip and Joanna Gaines are gearing up for another big project! The former HGTV stars are getting ready to launch a new show: FIXER UPPER: WELCOME HOME — THE CASTLE.

In the eight-episode series, the Gaines’ will be renovating a 19th-century castle in their hometown of Waco, Texas.

Cottonland Castle is a historic landmark, and the Gaines’ will work to preserve the integrity of the castle, while still making their own mark.

The Gaines have had their eye on this home for years.

“For nearly two decades, Chip watched and waited, persistently putting in offers whenever the castle was relisted — each one passed over for someone else, while very few improvements appeared to be made,” Joanna wrote in the Winter 2019 issue of Magnolia Journal

“Chip saw the beauty and potential in this place years earlier than I did, but he never gave up, and because of that, we now get to make this castle beautiful again,” she continued.

This show isn’t the only new program coming to the Gaines’ Magnolia Network. Movieguide® previously reported:

Chip and Joanna Gaines recently announced four new series set to premiere on their Magnolia Netowork at its launch this summer.

Although the coronavirus forced the couple to rearrange their multi-platform media joint venture with Discovery+ and delay, the Gaines’ network will not disappoint.

The four shows include ART IN BLOOM with Helen Dealtry, THE ARTISON KITCHEN with Bryan Ford, JEAN STOFFER DESIGN, and MAKING MODERN with duo Brooke and Brice.

The news shows will round out the Magnolia Network’s 10 upcoming programs.

The four newly announced series join previously announced programs HOMEGROWN, MIND FOR DESIGN, RANCH TO TABLE, SELF EMPLOYED, VAN GO, and ZOE BAKES.

FIXER UPPER: WELCOME HOME — THE CASTLE will premier on the Magnolia Network in September.
