How to Watch A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING This Year

A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING, a Thanksgiving staple for many families, will only be available for Apple TV+ subscribers this year.
After Apple acquired the classic cartoons in 2020, the PEANUTS holiday specials have become harder to come by. The Thanksgiving special has become a tradition for many families, thanks in part to its consistent airing on television nearly every year since its release in 1973.
Although it still aired on TV in 2020 and 2021, Apple has since made it exclusive to its platform. Last year marked the first time it did not air on TV in over 30 years. So far, however, the platform has opened up a free viewing window to allow non-subscribers to watch the special.
It was available for free to non-subscribers earlier this month—Nov. 18 and 19—but anyone wanting to watch it on Turkey Day must do so through an Apple TV+ account.
Last year, these windows took place on, or just before, the holiday. Unfortunately, Apple shifted the window this year, placing it roughly a week before the actual holiday. A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS will be available for free Dec. 16 and 17 this year.
A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING follows the PEANUTS gang through a classic story as Peppermint Patty forces Charlie Brown to host a Thanksgiving feast for his friends even though he already has plans at his grandmother’s house.
With the help of Snoopy and Woodstock, the gang puts together a measly feast, which ends in disaster. Throughout the story, the characters talk about the first Thanksgiving and why it is still celebrated today.
While Apple’s decision not to run the Peanuts holiday special on TV is disappointing, they recently announced exciting news for Charlie Brown fans as a new movie is in the works.

Apple has ordered a new PEANUTS movie, bringing fans another adventure with Charlie Brown and friends as they embark on an adventure in New York City.
“Fans of all ages have been enamored with PEANUTS on Apple TV+,” said Tara Sorensen, Apple’s head of children’s programming. “We can’t wait for everyone to experience this heartwarming new adventure with Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the gang in the Big City.”
The screenplay was created by Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz and Cornelius Uliano, the team behind the 2015 Movieguide® Award-nominated THE PEANUTS MOVIE. They were joined by Karey Kirkpatrick, who has previously worked on CHICKEN RUN, SMALLFOOT and OVER THE HEDGE. Steve Martino, the director of the previous PEANUTS movie, will direct the movie.
“It is so special to carry on my father’s legacy with an original story from me, my son, and his writing partner Neil,” said Craig Schulz. “Peanuts fans have been clamoring for another feature [film] for years, and this film will bring joy to our millions of fans around the world.”
