Candace Cameron Bure shared how her parents’ marriage troubles led to her coming to Christ, emphasizing “the beauty of God’s plans.”
“I became a believer — my parents were on the brink of divorce when I was 12,” the FULL HOUSE actress said in an episode of “The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast.” “A friend invited them to come to counseling at their church.”
Bure explained that her mom “was a believer,” but her dad wasn’t. Despite that, he “agreed to go to counseling and start going to church because they really did want to reconcile the marriage but didn’t know how to.”
“[Attending church] gave them a start,” she continued. “This started our journey going to church, so at 12, probably after a couple of months of going, six months of going, I gave my life to Christ.”
In the caption of the video, Bure wrote, “Sometimes what feels like a detour is actually the beginning of something greater! That’s the beauty of God’s plans. We see a rose, but He sees the whole bouquet.”

“12-year-old Candace couldn’t imagine how her parents could reconcile when they were so close to divorce. But God did!!” the caption continued. “And in restoring their marriage, He also restored the health of our whole family.”
Bure has often shared her testimony. During an appearance on the “JWLKRS” podcast last year, she shared, “It’s not like we were instant believers, but I saw that my parents were just working through their marriage, and I would sit every week, and I would listen to the sermons, and I never…totally understood what they were talking about because I didn’t know Bible stories.”
“I didn’t know God other than God’s like some big being in the sky that created the world, but other than that, I just didn’t know anything about Him and didn’t really think about Him beyond that,” she continued. “But then when we started going to church, I did start thinking about those things.”
In a conversation with her brother, Kirk Cameron, on TBN, the actress explained that, while she gave her life to Christ at 12, she didn’t fully step into her faith until later in life.
“It wasn’t until I saw myself as a sinner [later in life] that I realized what He did for me, and that changed everything,” she said. “I believe I’ve been a Christian since I was 12, but I didn’t start walking with God until I was about 22 or 23 years old.”
Bure’s testimony is a reminder that, even when we can’t understand it, God’s plan is always working in our lives.
