Chuck Norris recently revealed that he wanted country singer Randy Travis to record the theme song for his television series, WALKER, TEXAS RANGER.
“[Fans] might not know I actually recorded the opening song for my television series WALKER, TEXAS RANGER,” Norris told US Weekly for his 25 Things You Don’t Know About Me feature. “I wanted Randy Travis to sing the theme song, ‘The Eyes of a Ranger,’ but CBS insisted that I had to sing it.”
Despite not being a singer, Norris revealed that he had to “rap in the style of Johnny Cash.” The actor said that he “even won an award” for the song.
“CBS was so excited that they booked me at Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, Texas, on New Year’s Eve to perform it live,” Norris explained. “There is an old saying that every singer wants to act and every actor wants to sing. Famous last words, because I’ve never been so nervous in my life.”

While Norris turned 85 in March, he continues to train and spend much of his time with his family.
“Training and enjoying quality time on the beautiful beaches of Kauai with my family. I’m grateful for these precious moments,” the actor wrote in a social media post from July.
When Norris celebrated his birthday, he reflect on all he’s done in his life.
“As I look back on my life, I’m so incredibly grateful for the remarkable adventures and wonderful people I’ve met along the way. Time may move quickly, but the moments we create together last a lifetime. Here’s to the journey ahead,” he wrote.
One of the ways that Norris maintains his youth is through activities he loves and good nutrition.
“Nothing like a day out on the range. It’s important to find outlets that help us cope with life’s stresses and challenges. I’m grateful for the peace and focus it brings,” he shared earlier this summer.
He added in another Instagram post last year that he’s “Still pushing my limits every day. Here’s to staying active and loving every moment of it!” He shared several photos from an MMA training session.
His diet consists primarily of whole foods like lean proteins, vegetables and fruits, and he also avoids processed, sugary foods and refined carbohydrates.
“You know, I’m 84 today, but I feel like I’m 48,” said Norris last year.
It’s incredible to see Norris still going strong!
