Back in April, Sandy Hawkins Combs sat next to a “polite” young man, who she later found out was Jacksonville Jaguars star Travis Hunter.

On Monday night, after the Jaguars beat the Kansas City Chiefs in a come-from-behind win, Hunter reunited with Combs.

Full circle moment: @TravisHunterJr reunites with Sandy,” the Jaguars shared on X.

In that same post, the Jaguars included the April Facebook post from Combs, who said, “I had the most wonderful flight home from Denver. I met the nicest young man who sat next to me. He offered to put my bag in the overhead compartment and helped me with my tray. He was always polite, saying ‘yes ma’am’ or ‘no ma’am.’ Anyone would be proud to have him as a son or grandson-so polite.”

She continued: “People walking by were saying congratulations, great job, or even taking pictures. I turned and asked him, ‘Who am I sitting next to?’ I looked at his Jaguar pants, smiled, and asked, ‘Are you an athlete?’ He smiled and said, ‘I’m Travis. Yes, I was drafted by the Jags.’ I already told my sons I want his jersey.”

“He’s so humble and down-to-earth — I would have never guessed he was a professional athlete,” Combs added. “JACKSONVILLE JAGS, you did good! I will be buying tickets. United Airlines, thank you for my seat assignment!”

In his rookie season, Hunter has started on both “offense (39 snaps) and defense (25 snaps) making him the first player in the modern NFL era to start and play significant snaps since Deion Sanders in 1996,” according to 247 Sports.

During Monday’s game against the Chiefs, Hunter caught all three passes that were thrown in his direction. One catch was a 44-yard 50/50 ball that set the Jaguars up for a crucial third-quarter touchdown.

He finished the game with 64 yards and also played a majority of the snaps on defense.

Hunter’s end-of-game stats included “2 tackles and 1 pass break-up. And after the game, when mere mortal players would have run into the locker room exhausted, the ‘Energizer Bunny’ that is Travis Hunter ran around EverBank Stadium high-fiving every fan he could reach,” 247 Sports reported.

It’s incredible to see Hunter stay humble even as his NFL career starts strong.
